Walchsee itself covers 100 hectares. During the summer months, the water reaches temperatures of up to 24 °C. These two figures provide different information: the area describes the lake, while the temperature is a seasonal maximum. So if you’re planning your stay around the water, keep your travel dates in mind too.
Lake and play activities by type
At the Walchsee lakeside promenade, you can rent boats and stand-up paddleboards. The Wibit Aqua-Funpark on Walchsee covers 800 m². Another option is the “Zahmer Kaiser” trampoline park in Walchsee: covering more than 2,000 m², it offers various action and play areas for children, teenagers and adults. The activities differ in type: rentals at the lakeside promenade, an Aqua-Funpark and a trampoline park with several play areas. Children, teenagers and adults are explicitly listed as target groups for the trampoline park. This lets you choose activities according to your preferred focus, rather than treating them as a single activity on the water.
Moor, trails and seasonal differences
The Schwemm has been designated a Natura 2000 site since 2003 and, at 65 hectares, is the largest contiguous moorland area in North Tyrol. On a guided tour of the Schwemm moor, experts accompany participants; tour dates are seasonal. For a different kind of activity, the 4th Schwemm loop is a specific option: it is of moderate difficulty, 9.26 km long, and suitable for running and Nordic walking. This gives you a choice between a guided moor tour and a route with a specified distance and difficulty level. If you’re interested in the tour, plan around its seasonal dates.
The starting point for the Four Elements Trail is on Kalvarienweg, behind the “Das Walchsee” hotel. In winter, the Seeloipe cross-country ski trail runs partly along the shore of Walchsee; its operation is seasonal.
