Mühlthal can be explored through a variety of route ideas: one circular trail leads through the forest, across a stream and past meadows to traditional farms; other routes follow a stream promenade or go via Ebersau and the Achhöfe farms before returning. There is also the Mühltal Chapel, the Kundl Gorge and regional dishes at Thalmühle s'Wirtshaus. When planning your day, choosing the right route is especially important: the trails have clearly distinct courses and destinations.

Hiking trails and farm scenery

The Mühltal village circular hiking trail starts and ends at the Färberwirt in Mühltal. It runs through the forest, crosses a stream and passes beautiful meadows before reaching Klammstraße. The trail also leads to the rustic Ebersleith and Achhöfe farms. Small windows, firewood stacked outside the front door, flowers and farm gardens define these farms. Thus, along with the forest and stream, traditional farm details shape the character of the circular trail.

The route from Mühltal via the stream promenade to Auffach follows the promenade from Schinterbrücke to Auffach. This distinguishes it from the village circular hiking trail: here, Auffach is the destination, while the circular trail starts and ends at the Färberwirt. The Mühltal-Ebersau-Achweg leads from Mühltal towards the Kundl Gorge, through the forest to the Ebersau farm, and back to Mühltal via the Achhöfe farms. The routes therefore differ in their named destinations and in whether the described route returns to Mühltal.

The Path of Trust offers a different focus: seven stations invite you to pause, reflect and look within. The focus here is on the stations and their contemplative nature, rather than a succession of forest sections, stream crossings or farms. This is a distinct route idea for anyone who would like to include such moments in their plans alongside the scenery.

Chapel and Kundl Gorge

The present-day Mühltal Chapel stands somewhat hidden on Schmiedbühel and serves as a kind of branch church for the Mühltal district. Surrounded by the nature of the Kitzbühel Alps, it is a small place of peace and contemplation that invites visitors to pause as a spiritual retreat. The chapel thus adds a quiet, spiritual touch alongside the landscape-focused route ideas.

Along the route through the Kundl Gorge, visitors pass rock walls up to 200 metres high. Accessibility should also be clearly distinguished: the route to the Kundl Gorge is easy to manage with a pushchair; the gorge itself is accessible and suitable for wheelchair users. Weather and maintenance may affect these conditions. So check the current situation before your visit.

The tourist train is also wheelchair-accessible and departs from Mühltal. This adds another specific point of reference for planning alongside the trail and gorge options.

Regional cuisine

Thalmühle s'Wirtshaus serves regional specialities such as Wildschönau pretzel soup, Schlutzkrapfen and Pressknödel. If you plan to stop for a meal, bear in mind that opening hours may change and check them before your visit.
