Mieders lies in the front Stubai Valley at the foot of the Serles. The village combines hiking experiences in the Serles area with cultural and historical sites in the centre: Baroque frescoes, chapels and the restored Old Mill give your stay a second focus alongside the trails. This means you can get to know Mieders through more than just excursions into nature. The village centre also contains tangible evidence of religious history and rural life. Depending on your interests, you can choose which themes to focus on, from hiking and Serlespark to historic buildings.
Hiking and Nature Experiences
Hiking experiences mentioned in connection with Mieders include a tour through a raised bog, the Quellenweg trail and the summit route to the Serles. The summit route offers impressive views. The raised bog, the Quellenweg and the summit route each offer a different focus.
In the Stubai Valley hiking trail network, hikes start at the Koppeneck mountain station and last from 15 minutes to 3.5 hours. This time range makes it easy to compare shorter and longer hikes throughout the valley.
As a summer attraction, Serlespark at the mountain station features a spacious water play area, numerous hiking trails and three viewing platforms. The 2025 Stubai Super Card brochure also mentions a panoramic lake and a children's area. The park thus combines trails and viewpoints with a water play area and children's area.
The Serlesbahnen brochure from April 2025 describes King Serli’s Nature Discovery Trail as a playful hiking path that introduces children to local nature at several interactive stations. The same brochure gives the Mieders summer toboggan run a length of 2.8 km, an elevation difference of around 640 metres and a top speed of 42 km/h.
Local History and Chapels
The village centre is home to houses with Baroque frescoes. The restored Old Mill offers an insight into the crafts and rural life of times past. Alongside these traces of everyday life, the parish church of Maria Geburt is another landmark: the cemetery chapel, dating from 1358, stands right next to it.
The chapel on Kalvarienberg stands on a hill in the middle of the village centre. The present building was erected in 1843 on the foundations of a building dating from the 13th century. Every year on All Souls’ Sunday, a memorial procession sets out from the church and makes its way up Kalvarienberg. Since 2018, a memorial site for all star children has stood on its eastern side.
In the Tyrol Federal Monuments Office monument inventory dated 30 June 2025, the Rosary Chapels in Mieders and the Marian Fountain are listed as protected monuments by ordinance.
Connections to the Serles Area
The Serlesbahnen take visitors from the village to the Serles hiking and ski area. The Serlesbahnen brochure from April 2025 also mentions the Serleszug, which runs directly to Maria Waldrast Monastery several times a day; the frequency may vary. Check the current timetable for your travel date.
