Neustift-Innermanzing lies on the western edge of the Vienna Woods. A natural forest pond, trails for walking and cycling, and churches, chapels, and memorial sites give a stay a variety of possible focuses. From Neustift-Innermanzing, you can also hike to the Schöpfl, regarded as the highest mountain in the Vienna Woods.

Leisure and Outdoor Activities

The leisure area around the adventure pond includes a natural forest pond, a large sunbathing lawn, and sanitary facilities. The area is intended for sports and leisure activities by sports clubs, local residents, and visitors. A large, nature-themed children’s playground is also located in the adventure pond area. The municipality’s leisure facilities also include two artificial-grass tennis courts: one with a carpet surface and one with a sand surface.

The “tut gut” steps trail is 3,857 steps, or 2.7 km, long. Its starting point is on Hauptstraße, by the passage to Däneke-Platz. The Innermanzing loop starts and ends at the church in Innermanzing; it can be reached by bus via the Innermanzing Kirche stop. The routes differ in the information provided for planning: the steps trail has a stated length and starting point, while the loop starts and ends at the church.

The Laabental cycle path passes through the municipality of Neustift-Innermanzing and connects to Tulln and St. Pölten. Along the route, several fitness stations with instruction boards invite you to try out exercises. The Laaben route is a separate route: it starts and ends in Neustift-Innermanzing. An EVN charging station with two charging points rated at 3.7 and 11 kW is located on the village square by the municipal office—a specific landmark to keep in mind if you are planning your trip by electric car.

Church, Stations of the Cross, and Memorial Sites

The church in Innermanzing was completed in 1967 and dedicated to Saint Augustine by diocesan bishop Dr. Franz Zak. It is located on the regional road and is popular with day-trippers passing through. A bronze figure of Saint Augustine by H. Grandegger, dating from around 1970, adorns the church.

A war memorial to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars stands beside the church building. It depicts an almost life-size statue of the Virgin Mary and two larger-than-life eagle figures, with benches on either side. In the center of Neustift-Innermanzing, the KSFV built a Stations of the Cross between 1986 and 1989. Its images are taken from “Kreuzweg mit Kindern” (Stations of the Cross with Children), a work by German painter Ludwig Baur; the Stations of the Cross was consecrated on September 9, 1989.

The chapels also differ in age and design. In Aschberg, a chapel dating from the 19th century stands on the northwestern edge of the municipality. The square building has an octagonal upper section; a room is accessed by an exterior staircase at the rear. The Eck wayside chapel on EckstraĂźe also dates from the 19th century and has an interior ceiling painting of a starry sky from the second half of the 20th century. The OberkĂĽhberg village chapel was built in the 17th century and rededicated in 1953.

Local History and Seasonal Experiences

An early historical record mentions the place in 1519 as “Manzing auf der Neustift.” The village’s history also includes the former production of pine tar and charcoal. The surviving Kaisereiche (Imperial Oak) was planted in 1908 to mark the 60th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph’s reign.

The drying house, typical of the region, was restored by the Neustift-Innermanzing Culture, Sports and Folklore Association and moved in 2006 to the Laabental cycle path below the primary school as an attraction. A demonstration of fruit drying takes place there on two weekends in September. Visitors can bring their own fruit to dry and taste it afterward; check the specific dates before your trip. Exhibitions are regularly held in the Kulturkeller (Culture Cellar). You should also check their dates in advance.
