Those considering Radenthein as a travel destination can plan around different interests: uncovering gemstones themselves, learning about cheese production, or choosing a route based on its course and how it can be used. The activities differ in nature, offering several ways to shape a stay. This makes it possible to select experiences that suit you rather than follow a one-size-fits-all itinerary.

Discover garnets for yourself

At the Granatium prospecting site, visitors can use suitable tools to uncover gemstones from the rock themselves. At Granatium Radenthein, visitors can also walk through the mystically illuminated garnet tunnel. This offers two different ways to explore garnets: at the prospecting site, the activity is uncovering them yourself; in the tunnel, it is walking through the illuminated space. If you are choosing between the two, consider how hands-on you would like to be—working with tools yourself or walking through the garnet tunnel.

Cheese production at Kaslab’n

Kaslab’n Nockberge adds a culinary focus. Organic hay-milk cheese, including traditional hard and semi-hard cheeses, is made from cow’s and goat’s milk. The open show dairy offers a look at traditional recipes, gentle processing methods and authentic craftsmanship. This insight brings together two questions relevant to cheese lovers: what kinds of cheese are made, and how are they produced? The focus is therefore on both the product and the production method, not just one particular type of cheese.

Mill Hiking Trail: stops and current closure

The Kaning Mill Hiking Trail near Radenthein features six restored FlodermĂĽhlen mills that have been opened to the public. There is also a bread-baking room, a Kneipp pool and play facilities for children. A notice updated on August 18, 2026, states that the trail is currently closed after approximately 1.5 kilometres. Follow the marked route through the forest or along the forest road, and check conditions again before setting out.

Two routes, different ways to find your bearings

The Path of Jewels connects Lake Millstatt, Radenthein and Arkerkopf, a summit in the heart of the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve. The Seental Cycle Path is 2.3 kilometres long and forms a nature-oriented route alongside a stream, connecting with the R2B cycle path from Radenthein’s entrance gate to the bridge to the Waldwegsiedlung Döbriach at Lake Millstatt. The route is suitable for cyclists and pedestrians. The routes offer different points of reference when choosing: the three destinations are the key reference points on the Path of Jewels, while the Seental Cycle Path is defined by its length, its course alongside a stream, and its suitability for walking or cycling. Conditions can change, so check the route before setting out. Both routes have Lake Millstatt in common.
