On Sommeregger Alm, each educational trail features 13 detailed information panels with QR codes; the trail themes include “Hunting and Wildlife” and “Alpine Birds”. The mushroom trail in Seeboden is about one kilometre long and starts near the branch church of St. Wolfsberg.
Culture between castle, garden and lake
Sommeregg Castle above Seeboden dates back to the 12th century. The castle houses the Torture Museum, Central Europe’s largest torture museum, with more than 100 faithfully reproduced exhibits. The Bonsai Museum offers a different cultural experience, showcasing Zen gardens inspired by traditional Japanese models across more than 15,000 square metres of exhibition and garden space. Visitors can see around 3,000 bonsai in 120 different varieties and forms; many of the exhibits are more than 100 years old.
“Art Along the Way” is a signposted route through Seeboden that leads to sculptures by Otto Eder.
