Sierra De Los Padres brings together hilly landscapes, lagoons and streams with a specific historical chapter: the founding of the Reducción de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de los Puelches by Jesuits. If you’d like to explore landscapes and cultural history side by side on your trip, you’ll find different points of interest here. A protected area, a museum, a named circuit and recreational activities offer different starting points for your plans.

Landscapes between hills and water

Sierra De Los Padres is known for its hilly landscapes, lagoons and streams. The Reserva Integral Laguna de los Padres–Sierra de los Padres offers a more specific connection with nature: the protected area consists of a body of water surrounded by ravines and wooded areas. This lets you distinguish between the broader landscape and the specific body of water and its surroundings. Nearby, Ruta 226 offers views of rugged terrain, lagoons, streams and hilly landscapes.

History and rural life

The Reducción de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de los Puelches was founded by Jesuits between 1746 and 1751 and was the first attempt to establish a colonial settlement in this region. At the Museo José Hernández, you can learn about rural life in the past. Together, these offer two perspectives on cultural history: an early attempt at colonial settlement and rural life in the past.

Routes and recreational activities

The Circuito General San Martín leads to the summit and passes in front of the 18-hole course and the Sierra de los Padres Golf Club. The Golf Club itself is located in Barrio Sierra de los Padres. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between the circuit’s summit destination and the club’s location in the barrio. La Casualidad Laberinto y Juegos is also a recreational attraction in Sierra De Los Padres. These themes offer different points of interest, from the landscape along a named route to a specific recreational activity.

The wider area: General PueyrredĂłn Partido

The Reserva Natural Municipal Laguna de los Padres is located in General PueyrredĂłn Partido. It serves to protect and preserve flora, fauna and water bodies, and is also designated for recreational, sporting, cultural, scientific and educational uses. Laguna de los Padres is suitable for rowing on the Alberto-Valle course and is considered an important area for sport fishing. These regional nature and sports attractions are part of the wider destination of General PueyrredĂłn Partido.

Four authorized access points are provided for the reserve: the main entrance on Avenida de Los Misioneros, plus three secondary entrances via Camino del Cabildo Indígena to Museo Municipal José Hernández, via Calle Helmer Uranga to the island area, and via Camino Cacique Cangapol to Avenida Padre Luis Varetto in the direction of Sierra De Los Padres. Check the access conditions before setting out.
