La Estafeta offers several points of interest for a stay: archaeological heritage, the paleontological significance of its cliffs, handicrafts, and water sports. This allows you to plan your trip around different interests without treating all these highlights as equivalent.

Archaeology, cliffs, and the fair

The La Estafeta 1 archaeological site (LE1; Mazzanti 1995–96) is located on a rise beside the sea cliffs in the area known as La Estafeta de Chapadmalal (Partido de General Pueyrredón). The cliff on Estafeta Chapadmalal beach is of significant paleontological value. Thus, an archaeological site and a paleontologically valuable cliff area offer two different perspectives on the area.

The Feria de Producciones Artesanales de Chapadmalal, described in February 2023, brings together techniques and expertise from various craft fields. Dance, theater, music, and poetry are among the ways mentioned to encourage access to culture. In February 2023, the triangular plaza at the intersection of Costanera and Yumbel, in the area of Playa Chapadmalal known as La Estafeta, was named as the permanent, officially approved venue. Check current event dates before planning a visit.

Water sports and getting there

Manantiales Club de Mar – UTF Arroyo Loberia is located in Barrio Estafeta Playa Chapadmalal. Surf lessons and kayaking are listed as activities at the club. Check in advance whether these activities are currently available. Costa Azul (toward Miramar) and 511 CH are listed as approximate connections to the club; check current schedules before setting out.

More attractions in the wider destination of General Pueyrredón Partido

The wider destination of General Pueyrredón Partido also has distinct cultural and natural attractions. The Complejo Unidad Turística de Chapadmalal is located on Ruta Provincial Interbalnearia 11 at kilometer 34.5 and is designated a National Historic Monument.

The Reserva Natural Municipal Laguna de los Padres protects and preserves flora, fauna, and water resources. It is also designated for recreational, sporting, cultural, and scientific and educational uses. The four authorized entrances are the main entrance on Avenida de Los Misioneros and three secondary entrances: via Camino del Cabildo Indígena to the Museo Municipal José Hernández, via Calle Helmer Uranga to the island area, and via Camino Cacique Cangapol to Avenida Padre Luis Varetto, toward Sierra de los Padres. Check the current access situation before setting out.

The Laguna de los Padres is suitable for rowing on the Alberto Valle course and is considered an important venue for sport fishing. The Museo Municipal José Hernández is located on Ruta 226 at kilometer 13.2, at the second entrance to the Laguna de los Padres via Camino del Cabildo Indígena. Its permanent exhibition covers early settlement, new population groups, the first Indigenous settlements and missions, the cacique Cangapol “El Bravo,” regional rural history, and the Estancia Laguna de los Padres.

The museum is housed in the original main building of the former Estancia Laguna de los Padres, built in 1882. The Municipalidad de General Pueyrredon has designated the building as being of heritage interest. The exhibition venue thus connects the history of the estancia with themes in regional rural history, while the Laguna is also designated as a natural area and a place for the recreational and sporting activities mentioned above.
