A preserved 13th-century church tower, a Walser house that serves as a museum, and seasonal activities on Madrisa showcase different sides of Klosters Platz. When planning your visit, you can focus on history, trails, cycling or mountain activities—without having to turn the activities mentioned into a fixed itinerary.

Church, Walser house and milling history

The Reformed Church in Klosters is the original monastery church. Its surviving tower dates from the 13th-century founding building. The three tracery windows feature stained-glass paintings by Augusto Giacometti from 1928. These details give the church a long architectural history and a clear artistic connection.

The Nutli HĂĽschi is a typical 16th-century Walser house and has been a museum since 1925. Its collection includes old household items, furniture and tools from Klosters and the surrounding area. The historic grain mill of the Nutli-HĂĽschi Museum is a ten-minute walk from the Nutli HĂĽschi. Bread is baked in a wood-fired oven at the museum for visitors and local residents; dates may vary. Check in advance if you would like to plan your visit around the baking.

The pre-industrial, water-powered Alte KornmĂĽhle in Rohr offers another facet of local history. It is the only surviving mill of the more than 20 mills in Klosters. The mill thus connects a specific technical subject with the history of the place, while the Nutli HĂĽschi focuses primarily on the house, its collection and everyday objects.

Trails and activities for different interests

The 2.8-kilometre Dwarf Trail above Aeuja has ten stops featuring fairy tales and play elements, including a large marble run. It was renovated and modernised in summer 2024. The trail length and its stops give you a concrete point of reference; no walking time or difficulty level is specified.

Skiing, sledging and other play activities are all available on Madrisa. The ski area has 23 kilometres of pistes. When there is enough snow, a 7.7-kilometre sledging run leads to Saas. Snow conditions are key: the piste length and sledging run describe different options, not the same activity. Madrisa-Land has a marble run, bouncy castle, slides, water games and swings. Individual facilities may change over time.

There are also several specific routes for cycling and hiking. The Family Trail follows a cycle path along the Landquart to Alp Garfiun and back. The Schlappin–Kübliser Alp gravel-bike route runs from Klosters through the Schlappin Valley to Kübliser Alp and back to Klosters Platz; trail conditions may vary seasonally. During the summer season, there is a mobile skills park with a pump track in the Bündelti area.

Those interested in culture along a hiking trail will find five converted Gadä barns on the Gadäwäg between Monbiel and Russna. Their displays explore history, culture and nature. Another hiking loop runs from Klosters Platz railway station via Selfranga and Monbiel, with views of Klosters, and returns to the station. The starting point, route and return are specified, but not the duration.

Climbing and a striking structure

“Sunnibergbrücke Climbing” is located on pier number two of the Sunniberg Bridge. The climbing facility is free and open to the public. It has 20 climbing routes and two multi-pitch routes; the routes climb up to 55 metres, and the grades range from 4a to 8a. The facility provides specific information about its size and difficulty, without implying that it is suitable for any particular individual.

The Sunniberg Bridge near Klosters opened to road traffic in 2005 and is considered a landmark. It spans approximately half a kilometre and blends harmoniously into the landscape around Klosters. Those interested in architecture and civil engineering can see a more recent structure alongside the historic buildings.

Getting here and finding your way around

Klosters Platz railway station has been made fully accessible and has a direct cable-car connection to the Gotschna and Parsenn areas. Since the timetable change in December 2023, the RhB Landquart–Klosters–Davos/Engadin service has run every half hour. The local bus connects the station with the car park in Monbiel daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Check the timetable before travelling. This lets you plan your journey and the start of a tour around a specific transport hub.
