A 360-degree view from the lookout tower, six winter ski runs and a church inaugurated in 1918 represent three different sides of Solberg: mountain scenery, winter sports and local history. When choosing a destination, it is worth considering the season and the activities you have in mind. This way, before searching for holiday accommodation, you can decide whether winter ski runs, a hike on Solberget or nature spots in the surrounding area should shape your stay.

Winter at Solbergsbacken

In winter, Solbergsbacken has six ski runs, including a run for children. A relaxation area with an outdoor hot tub complements the facilities.

Solbergsbacken is located at Fritidsvägen 12, 895 98 Solberg, and is easiest to reach by car. The resort is nine Swedish miles from Örnsköldsvik. In Solberg, near Solbergsbacken, Sportboa is a shop selling ski equipment. As opening arrangements may change, check them before your visit.

Trails and views on Solberget

For planning your route, note the distinction between two distances: a signposted hike from Kyrkvägen in Solberg to Solberget is about 3 kilometres, while Vitklippan barbecue area can be reached after parking by the roadside and following a signposted trail of about 200 metres. Solberget rises to 594 metres above sea level, and a lookout tower on the mountain offers a 360-degree view. Vitklippan is also on Solberget and offers views of Solbergsbyn.

The approximate distance to the barbecue area and the hike to Solberget describe different outings. Trail conditions may vary; conditions on site and the seasonal availability of the barbecue area may also vary. Check these details before your visit.

Church and local history

Solbergs kyrka is on the southern slope of Solberget and offers views of the surrounding area. It was inaugurated in September 1918. The single-nave timber church is 37 metres long, and its western tower is 21 metres high. The nave is the elongated main part of a church; “single-nave” describes a layout with one main nave. This distinction makes it clear which measurements refer to each of the two different parts of the building: the length is that of the nave, and the height is that of the western tower.

Nature spots in the surrounding area

Near Solberg is Stockholmsgata, a gorge formation 50 metres deep and 1.5 kilometres long. The nature reserve can be reached via a turn-off from Road 348 near Solberg. The nearby Solbergån offers opportunities for fly-fishing for grayling and trout. These are distinct nature experiences: the dramatic gorge and fly-fishing on the river.

Anundsjö Vildmark refers to the area in and around Solberg in Örnsköldsvik Municipality; it is part of Höga Kusten. This regional context complements the specific local destinations without combining them into a single tour.
