A 2.9-kilometre circular walk along the Husån offers a distinctive way to experience the landscape around Husum: The route is classified as green, follows the river, crosses a bridge and returns along the opposite bank. Flat pavements alternate with smaller gravel paths; along the way, there are views across the Husån. The river, bridge crossing and varied surfaces define this route.

Along the Husån

Parking for the circular walk is available near the health centre beside the dam. There is a disc golf course in the southern section. A playground and an outdoor fitness area are on the opposite side of the water. These features offer different points of interest along the route, without its length or classification alone promising a particular walking time or suitability.

Husum indoor swimming pool offers another activity, with swimming, water play and swimming sports. Opening hours may change, so check the current schedule before visiting.

Culture and local history

Husumgården is located beside the factory at the top of Blåsåsen. It is a lively, open and inclusive meeting place with a wide range of social, cultural and nonprofit activities. The art exhibition “Konst åt alla” has also been shown at Husumgården. As future offerings may change, check in advance for current activities.

Galleri Utås is a seasonally open gallery in Husum. Check when the gallery is open before visiting. Husum Library is located in Husumskolan and can also be used when no staff are present.

Grundsunda Church is on the edge of the built-up area, west of the town of Husum, on a slope west of Prästsjön. The church is a medieval hall church; a porch was added in the 15th century. Its wooden bell tower, in the Bothnian style, was built in 1794. The hall church, later addition and bell tower therefore belong to different building phases. Grundsunda Hembygdsgård is an open-air museum at Prästsjön.

Husum’s industrial past

The town’s industrial history also offers notable milestones. The water-powered sawmill in Husum was built in 1787 and developed into one of Sweden’s larger water-powered sawmills. A steam-powered sawmill was established in 1865. From the beginning of the 20th century, a pulp industry developed in Husum. The history thus stretches from the 18th-century water-powered sawmill to the pulp industry of the early 20th century.

Salusands havsbad, a seaside bathing area, is near the destination on the E4. Different travel interests may influence your choice of hotel in Husum: The walking route offers outdoor activity alongside the river, while Grundsunda Church, the open-air museum and the history of the sawmills provide cultural and industrial history highlights. The indoor swimming pool adds swimming and swimming sports to the options. Consider which of these aspects you want to shape your stay, then search for hotels in Husum.
