The 34 km Jonstorp–Örsjön cycling loop, Lake Svanshalssjön and historical traces in the surrounding area offer different points of interest for a stay in Svanshals. The Svanshals 1:20 property borders the lake on its north side. When planning your trip, you can choose between cycling, landscapes and history, and decide for yourself which theme should shape your stay.

Cycling loop and navigation

On the 34 km Jonstorp–Örsjön cycling loop, there is a turning in the village of Svanshals that is easy to miss. Check the signs on site if you use the route. The distance describes the length of the entire loop; the turning is a separate navigation point in the village. For cycling plans, two different things therefore matter: the length of the loop you choose and finding your way at the turning.

Landscape and natural features

Lake Svanshalssjön has steep slopes. In the area around Svanshals, directly at the turning towards Visseltofta, there is a seasonal orchid meadow with common twayblades (Jungfru Marie nycklar). A small, untouched raised bog area is located 50 metres from the cycling route. The natural features differ in type and reference point: lakeside slopes, a seasonal meadow at a named turning, and a bog at a specified distance from the cycling route. When planning your travel dates, take the meadow’s seasonal nature into account; the slopes and raised bog area are permanent landscape features.

At Jonstorpsgården, in the area around Svanshals, there are two large wildlife enclosures, one on each side of the road. Their arrangement may change. If you use the enclosures as a landmark, bear in mind that they may change rather than planning on them as an unchanging feature along the way.

Historical traces

The remains of Bostället, mentioned since 1570, lie in the area around Svanshals. Höjelycke gravfält, a Bronze Age stone setting dating to around 1000 BC, is also located there. The two sites offer different historical perspectives: for Bostället, the time reference is its mention since 1570; for Höjelycke gravfält, it is its approximate dating to the Bronze Age. A historical mention and a prehistoric date thus offer distinct ways of exploring the past.

Access to the water

There is a public landing stage on the Svanshals 1:18 property, built before 1975. Check its current condition on site before including it in your plans. The landing stage belongs to property 1:18; by contrast, the lake borders property Svanshals 1:20 on its north side. This distinction keeps the two specific connections to the water separate. Cycling routes, landscapes, historical sites and access to the water thus offer different priorities to consider when choosing where to stay.
