Lekoseum is located 50 metres from Osby station and can be reached by Ă–resundstĂĄg or PĂĄgatĂĄg. Check train connections before setting off. The toy museum showcases locally made toys from different eras. In addition to this cultural history theme, Osby offers art in the town centre as well as nature and water activities.

Museums and Building History

Osby Church has stood in the same place since the Middle Ages. Today, only the choir and apse remain from the medieval building. The nave was demolished in 1834 and rebuilt at twice its length and width. This makes it easy to distinguish the surviving medieval sections from the later reconstruction of the nave.

Göta Motorer in Osby is now a living industrial museum. A contribution to the municipal cultural award dated 16 December 2024 describes the collection of boat engines, stationary engines and preserved spare parts. Together with the toy museum, it offers a different perspective on Osby’s culture: here, the focus is on engines and technical objects in the collection, while the other museum showcases locally made toys from different eras.

Art in the Town Centre

The Konstpromenadkarta describes a 2-kilometre walk past 11 public artworks and buildings in the centre of Osby. Osby Konsthall is located in Osby Library in the town centre. The art walk starts outside the library and ends on the shore of Lake Osby at Sjöängen. While Lekoseum brings together one museum theme in a single place, this walk takes you past several artworks and buildings.

Nature, Views and Water

Näset is a municipal nature reserve on a peninsula in Lake Osby. It has hiking trails, a lookout tower and opportunities for kayaking and canoeing. The Skåneleden trail (SL1 Kust till kust, Stage 7) also passes through the Näset area. Check the reserve regulations and local conditions before visiting; trail conditions and visitor facilities can also change.

On Lake Osby, the whole family can paddle in calm waters and go around the Näset peninsula. Check water conditions and local restrictions before setting off. There are also two gently sloping, child-friendly swimming spots by the lake. Swimming conditions and facilities may change seasonally.

Osby skansar Nature Reserve lies on high ground between the Helge ĂĄ river and Lake Osby. Rare lichens, including the beech barkspot and the script lichen, may grow on the bark of old beech trees. An unmarked path in the reserve leads to the old 17th-century fortification of Sibbarps skans. Trail conditions may change, so check them before visiting.

Klinten has a viewpoint overlooking the centre of Osby and Lake Osby. It also has a floodlit exercise trail with circular routes for walking, running and cycling. The viewpoint and exercise trail offer different things to do in the same place. Municipal recreational facilities may change; check conditions before visiting.

When looking for hotels in Osby, it helps to make a clear distinction: do you mainly want to include art in the town centre, or nature and water activities? Choose based on the type of outings that matter for your stay.
