Kolmården is a mountainous forest region on the border between Östergötland and Södermanland; the views stretch across Bråviken. There are several options to shape your trip: shows at Kolmårdens Djurpark, wildlife watching on the safari cable car, and hikes through the landscape. These options differ both in what they offer and in the specific points of reference they provide for making a choice.

Shows and Wildlife Watching

Kolmårdens Djurpark presents the Hope dolphin show and the Wings bird of prey show. The shows feature different animals: Hope features dolphins, while Wings features birds of prey. If you would like to plan your visit around one of these performances, you can start by choosing which group of animals interests you most.

The safari cable car offers a different experience. It is a unique cable car experience unlike any other at zoos around the world. It is also the only place in Kolmården where you can see, among other animals, lions, giraffes and bison. The difference from the show program is clear: Hope and Wings are performances, while the cable car experience and wildlife watching are the focus on the safari cable car.

Hiking with Different Points of Focus

Kolmården offers numerous hiking opportunities, from easier to more challenging hikes. Fjällmossen lies in the heart of Kolmården and has shorter and longer trails. This information provides two different ways to choose: you can take both the desired level of challenge and the relative length of the hike into account. This lets you choose according to your own interests rather than treating every trail as the same kind of excursion.

The Stora Namnsgölen runt circular trail starts and ends at the parking area by Hultsbruk. This answers a different planning question than choosing shorter or longer trails in Fjällmossen: here, the starting and ending point is specified, while there the relative trail length is the main consideration. If you first want to know where a hike begins and ends, the parking area by Hultsbruk provides a specific reference point. The Marmorbruksleden is 9.6 kilometers long in total and consists of several loops. Beautiful and unique natural areas, as well as interesting flora and fauna, define this trail. You can also visit the Marmormuseét as a point of interest along the Marmorbruksleden.

Arriving at the Main Entrance

The “Djurparken” bus stop is about 50 meters from the main entrance to Kolmården and is adapted for people with reduced mobility. The approximate distance indicates where the stop is in relation to the entrance; the accessibility adaptation is a separate practical detail for planning your arrival.
