The paper mill was founded in 1907 and shaped Hyltebruk far beyond industry: its influence extended from residential areas to community life. This history remains part of the town’s identity today. Together with historic buildings, cultural activities, and paths by the water, it offers different perspectives on Hyltebruk.
Paper History and Culture
The development of the paper mill is a defining part of the town’s history. Its significance is reflected not only in industry but also in how it influenced life in the town. If you are interested in Hyltebruk’s history, you can combine this background with a visit to Lindekullen and Hyltebruk Church.
Kulturhuset Forum complements the historical themes with a varied program of events, including film, theatre, music, dance, art, and conferences. If you are planning to attend a specific event, check the current program and opening hours, as schedules and opening arrangements may change.
Historic Buildings and Details
Lindekullen includes buildings from several centuries: an open-sided pavilion from the 18th century, two cottages from the 19th century, and a barn from the 17th century. There is also an outbuilding with a stage. The different construction periods and building types offer several historical points of interest in the area, rather than focusing on just one era.
Hyltebruk Church was built in the 1920s in a simple style. A notable feature is the three-part altarpiece, painted by Edvin Ollers in 1924. A site on the western slope, opposite the factory grounds and railway station, was chosen for a new chapel. This plan offers a historical perspective on the construction of the church.
Walks and Hiking Trails
Three hiking trails start at the Lindekullen local heritage museum, and all can be walked in either direction. Kanalrundan is a central walking trail along the Nissan River and the canal, measuring 3.7 km. There is also an alternative 4 km loop. The routes are similar in length, making them easy to compare when choosing a walk.
Skärshultslederna comprises two hiking trails, one 5.8 km long and the other 12 km. The difference in length makes the two options suitable for different types of route planning. Together with the trails starting at the Lindekullen local heritage museum and Kanalrundan, they provide several hiking and walking options, each with its own stated distance.
