Mo is located on Swedish National Road 50, about 15 kilometres west of Söderhamn. In Kyrkbyn, a medieval church ruin recalls the town’s earlier history; at Florsjön, the focus is on swimming and water sports, while the Mohed MTB Arena is for trail cycling. Culture and history, water and sporting activities come together in Mo.

Water at Florsjön

Florsjön is one of the public swimming areas in Söderhamn Municipality. Next to Moheds Camping, there is a family-friendly swimming area with a gently sloping beach. This is a specific feature to consider when choosing a place to swim, while water skiing is also available on Florsjön through the Moheds Water Ski Club. The beach and water skiing offer different ways to enjoy the lake. Moheds Camping is located in a scenic area on the shore of Florsjön.

Church, textile mill and military history

Mo’s old medieval church was demolished in 1820; a preserved ruin remains in Kyrkbyn. At the beginning of the 19th century, Mo Church was moved to a new location, and the Flors linen manufactory was the reason. In the 18th century, the Flors linen factory in Mo was a textile mill that supplied damask fabrics to the royal court. The church and textile production thus form two connected chapters in the town’s history. Damask is a patterned fabric. The specific product detail from the 18th century complements the information that the factory supplied the royal court: it illustrates the kind of textiles the factory produced.

Mo Church also has a chancel painting by Uno Vallman. This named work of art adds a detail about church art to the architectural history.

Mohed served as a muster and assembly site for the Hälsinge Regiment from 1689 to 1908. A memorial stone from 1908 in Mohed, Mo, commemorates the regiment’s former camp site. The date on the stone provides a separate point of reference alongside the site’s long period of use.

Trail cycling and skateboarding

The Mohed MTB Arena offers trail cycling across terrain with varying conditions and levels of difficulty. The routes consist mostly of natural trails and forest tracks; there are no purpose-built forest trails for cycling there. The arena includes a skills park with a 400-metre-long flow trail. This distinction helps give a clearer picture of what is on offer: the routes are described as predominantly natural, while the flow trail is specified by its length. The varied terrain and difficulty levels add further detail.

In Mohed, the Söderhamn Skateboard Association built a skateboard ramp in the summer of 2023. This adds another sport as a distinct aspect to consider when planning a trip.
