Rättvik lies on the eastern shore of Lake Siljan. Travel ideas range from Långbryggan and a collection of historic buildings to art and natural history, as well as beaches, hiking trails and canoe trail signs.

Cultural History, Art and Crafts

Långbryggan is 628 metres long. It was built in 1895 as a landing stage for the steamer S/S Rättvik, which operated on Lake Siljan from 1895 until the 1950s. Its length, year of construction and original purpose give the bridge a clear place in the region’s transport history.

Rättviks Gammelgård consists of around 30 buildings from different periods and villages in the parish. Visitors can walk among the buildings; access to the buildings themselves may vary by season. The oldest item is a unique wool basket with Viking ornaments. It comes from Västbjörka and is dated to the 13th century. The collection’s buildings from different periods are thus set alongside a single object whose date has been established.

On the grounds, Café Nyfiket complements a visit with coffee and a light meal. It uses local and predominantly organically produced ingredients; the café may operate seasonally.

Rättviks kulturhus brings together a library, image archive, art gallery and natural history museum. Rättviks konsthall mainly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and works of arts and crafts by Swedish and international artists. At the natural history museum, the story of Rättvik and the Siljan region spans the formation of the Earth to the present day; the main exhibition tells of the formation of the region around Lake Siljan. Another craft tradition is Nittsjö keramik, with a 100-year tradition of pottery. Today, various stoneware and earthenware products are made there; second-quality items are also sold.

Beaches, Trails and Landscapes

Rättvik has a 1,200-metre-long sandy beach. For hiking, the Rättvik–Dalhalla trail passes through the Enån Nature Reserve, which is known for its interesting flora and fauna. Nearby, another trail in the protected area runs from Jarlområdet in the southwest to Springkällan. It is just over four kilometres long each way.

Another section is part of the Siljansleden: between Jarlstugan and Ensro, the trail crosses heathland of national interest and passes ponds with crystal-clear water, the Enån/Draggån watercourse and Springkällan. The Enåns canoe trail is marked in the water on both sides of the shore path with canoe signs. Dalhallarundan also has a clearly defined start and finish: it begins and ends at Rättvik Travel Centre.

Getting There and Planning Your Visit

Rättvik is directly accessible by train or bus. Check the timetables before travelling so you can coordinate your arrival with the connections. Dalhalla’s concert buses depart from Rättvik.

Dalhalla is an open-air stage in an old limestone quarry. Visits are possible only as part of a guided tour or a concert; it is not possible to walk around the site independently. Plan your visit for one of these two options and check the venue’s current information before travelling. Folkmusikens hus in Rättvik produces professional concert and dance programmes. If music is the reason for your trip, check the event dates against your travel dates.
