Eringsboda can be explored through two very different focal points: ten lakes where you can fish, and local history stretching from the first chapel to the church built in the 19th century. There is also Nordensköldsparken, maintained by volunteers, and the walking trail around Togölen. If you are looking for accommodation here, you can first decide whether lakes, the walking trail, or architectural and local history should shape your stay. You can give these themes whatever weight suits your interests, rather than following a set order.
Lakes and fishing
Eringsboda has ten lakes where you can fish. In the southern part of the Eringsbodabygden area is the Ljusterhövdens m. fl. sjöars fiskevårdsområde fishing area, which includes ten lakes with a total surface area of more than 300 hectares. The total area gives the fishing theme a concrete scale, while its location in the southern part of Eringsbodabygden places the area in its regional context. If fishing is your main interest, you can use the lakes and the fishing area as two separate points of reference when planning.
Togölen and the walking trail
Togölen is centrally located in Eringsboda, and a lit walking trail runs around the lake. Parking for the trail is available at Färgaregården and by the old shop. If you are arriving by car, you can include these two locations in your plans. Since facilities may change, it is a good idea to check that the trail is lit shortly before your visit.
Garden park and connection to Bräkne-Hoby
Nordensköldsparken in Eringsboda is one of several rural garden parks maintained entirely by volunteers. This volunteer upkeep offers a different focus from the church’s architectural history: the park is centered on the work of caring for a cultural landscape. The RonnebySlingor route connects Nordensköldsparken in Eringsboda with Svenmanska Park in Bräkne-Hoby. If you are interested in both places, you can include the connection in your travel plans; it gives the garden park theme a reach beyond Eringsboda.
Church and cemetery
Eringsboda’s cemetery dates back to the 1730s, when the first chapel was built. It was an important meeting place in the 18th and 19th centuries. Eringsboda Church replaced a wooden chapel with a wood-shingle roof, built in 1736–1738, and was constructed in 1847–1849 to plans by J. A. Hawerman. Its neoclassical exterior has remained unchanged since it was built. The local history thus brings together the early history of the chapel and cemetery, the later building phase, and an architectural feature that has remained constant. For architecture enthusiasts, the church’s building dates, materials and style are all of interest; the cemetery adds its earlier role as a meeting place to this perspective.
Historical route
Eringsboda lies on Karlskronavägen (Road 122), which today follows a route that was once an important connection between Småland and Ronneby’s shipping port. This road connection adds the history of a regionally important route to the area’s cultural and landscape themes.
