Discover Ronneby’s history in a variety of places: Ronneby Brunnspark dates back to a spa resort in the early 18th century, Heliga Kors kyrka preserves traces of the Middle Ages, and a Danish royal warship sank off the coast. There are also exhibitions, trails through forest and town, and experiences along the Ronnebyån. The town thus brings together different ways to explore culture and landscape.

Brunnspark, Naturum and water park

Ronneby Brunnspark covers 100 hectares and includes 25 listed buildings. The park is open to the public free of charge. The cultural reserve is home to Naturum Blekinge, a visitor centre with information, exhibitions and activities for the whole family. Its exhibition themes range from Brunnspark and the Bräkneån valley to Blekinge’s sea, coast and archipelago. ARK56 and outdoor life in Blekinge are also featured.

If you arrive by train or bus, get off at Ronneby travel centre. From there, it’s about a ten-minute walk to the park and Naturum. The exhibition themes showcase different aspects of the area, from the history of the spa resort to the coastal landscape and outdoor life.

Ronneby Brunnsbad, an outdoor water park, is also located in the heart of Brunnspark. Its facilities include the 93-metre-long Magic Hole slide, a 25-metre pool for training and swimming, as well as channels, bays, a lagoon and a lazy river. Check the water park’s current opening dates before your visit.

Art, crafts and local history

Kulturcentrum Ronneby Konsthall hosts 10 to 15 exhibitions each year. They showcase contemporary art, design and crafts from regional, national and international perspectives. If you’d like to do more than just view exhibitions, you can try your hand at the activities on offer: enamelling, textiles, graphic arts and risography. The northern art gallery also has an open workshop where visitors can get creative using the materials and tools provided.

Heliga Kors kyrka offers another window into the town’s history. Its oldest parts date from the late 12th century, and the church was completed in the 15th century. It houses Blekinge’s largest collection of Renaissance art and is considered the only surviving medieval building in Ronneby from the 13th-century town.

Möllebackagården, a local history museum with preserved interiors, is also located in Ronneby’s cultural quarter. The oldest part of the house was built in the late 18th century and served as the home of various mill owners for a hundred years. Möllebackagården is open to the public in summer.

Shipwreck history and trails around Ronneby

Gribshunden, the flagship of Danish King Hans, sank off the coast of Ronneby in the summer of 1495. Kallvattenkuren in Ronneby presents authentic finds and the story behind the wreck. The Gribshundsleden trail is also named after the 15th-century Danish warship and passes the shipwreck site.

The RonnebySlingor circular route offers a different perspective on the area: it starts and ends at Naturum and passes through the town centre, nature reserves, Bronze Age burial mounds and Ronneby harbour. While this route links several places in the town and surrounding area, Gribshundsleden focuses on the ship’s history and the site where it was found.

The Södra Brunnsskogen nature reserve lies south of Ronneby and close to Brunnspark. It covers a large, continuous woodland with broadleaf trees and older pine forest, and serves as a walking area close to town. Trails lead a short distance further south from there to the coast. The Ekorrestigen, meanwhile, is a separate 1.2-kilometre family trail through the forest, where visitors can discover animals and plants.

The Ronnebyån also offers a way to experience the landscape: the river has a 70-kilometre canoe and kayak route through dense forest. Canoes and kayaks are transported to any location along the Ronnebyån. The Karlsnäsgården–Ronneby section is considered a classic final stretch on the river.
