Quatretondeta lies at the foot of the Serrella, among olive and almond groves and the mountain range’s limestone cliffs. Hiking trails, striking rock formations and local dishes offer different ways to spend your time here.
Hiking Trails in the Serrella
The PR-CV 24 begins on Avda. del PaĂs ValenciĂ in the town. It runs along the foot of Els Frares through the Sierra de la Serrella and reaches Pla de la Casa at 1,371 m. From there, the route offers views of the Sierra de Aitana and AixortĂ . Check trail conditions before setting out.
Another hiking trail, the Sender de les Agulles de la Serrella, begins on a paved track that climbs uphill to the right of the Barranco de Figuerets. The Cova Foradada can also be visited via the route through Les Agulles. This gives you different destinations to choose from: Pla de la Casa and its views, or the cave on the route through Les Agulles. Check trail conditions before your hike, as they can change.
Rock Formations and Landscape
The rock formations known as Els Frares or Frailes lie in the Sierra de la Serrella and are part of its karst landscape. They are also visible from the town centre. You can therefore appreciate them both as part of the town’s surroundings and on the PR-CV 24, which runs along their base.
Another natural feature is the Carrasca de la TĂa SofĂa: a large holm oak estimated to be more than 250 years old. While Els Frares characterise the Serrella’s limestone landscape, the Carrasca draws attention to a single tree. Together, they provide different natural landmarks in the area.
History and Regional Cuisine
The parish church of Santa Ana was built between the 18th and 19th centuries. If you would like to visit the church, bear in mind that access conditions may vary. Its construction period offers a historical point of reference, while the rock formations and the old holm oak bring the landscape and its natural features into focus.
In Quatretondeta, you can try traditional dishes such as arroz al horno, olleta and typical tapas from the Alicante mountain region. As individual establishments and availability may change, it is advisable to check what is on offer locally.
An agrotourism and wine tourism experience takes you from Quatretondeta to the neighbouring town of Benimassot. There, beneath the “Olivera de les quatre soques,” it includes a masterclass and tasting of local olive oils. Three wines are also sampled alongside local products such as aged cheese, pericana and escarraet. Check the booking details before your trip.
A Rest Along the Way
At Fuente de la Viñeta, there is cold water and a place where you can cook meat over hot coals. Check the facilities on site. The restored Lavadero building offers hikers a place to take a short break. These spots complement the hiking and scenery with practical places to rest, without requiring you to plan an additional attraction.
