Villanueva de la Cañada between Water, Golf and Architectural History

Villanueva de la Cañada is a destination you can choose for a trip based on your interests: Aquopolis brings together several water attractions, Golf La Dehesa combines an 18-hole course with an indoor practice area, and Castillo de Aulencia and Centro Cultural La Despernada add historical and architectural highlights. These destinations offer different starting points for planning your trip. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to first decide what matters most to you: water activities, golf or architectural history.

Water Attractions at Aquopolis

Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada has more than 2,000 m² of white sandy beach, a wave pool and more than 15 water attractions. The sandy beach, wave pool and attractions are different elements of what is on offer. A children's area adds smaller, child-friendly versions of Waikiki, Zigzag, Pistas Blandas and Río Rápido. Tiki Island is an island with numerous water fountains. When choosing, you can view the adapted versions and Tiki Island as two different areas: one features smaller versions of named attractions, while the other is an island with fountains. This lets you consider the different elements of Aquopolis according to your own interests.

Golf Course and Indoor Practice Area

Golf La Dehesa is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Villanueva de la Cañada. It also has the Trackman Range indoor practice area. This allows you to practice regardless of the weather, improve your game and get a custom club fitting; it is open to members and visitors. For trip planning, these are two different golf options: the course on the one hand and the indoor range for practice and fitting on the other. If golf is a major part of your stay, you can distinguish between playing a round on the course and practicing indoors. The term “regardless of the weather” refers to the Trackman Range.

Castillo de Aulencia and Its Location

Castillo de Aulencia, also known as Castillo de Villafranca, is located in Parque Regional del Curso Medio del Río Guadarrama, in the Villafranca del Castillo development, at the confluence of the Aulencia and Guadarrama rivers. Its location connects the structure with a named natural area and the meeting point of the two rivers. Today, only ruins remain; the property is privately owned. If you are considering a visit, you should therefore check in advance whether access is possible and under what conditions. Both its precise location and its present state of preservation are important to understanding the castle.

Architecture at Centro Cultural La Despernada

Centro Cultural La Despernada opened in 1997 and was designed by Juan Navarro Baldeweg. The opening year and the architect provide two specific points of reference for learning about the building. Compared with Castillo de Aulencia, the emphasis here is on the design and opening; for the castle, the focus is on its location at the confluence of the rivers and the ruins that remain. If you choose architecture and architectural history as the focus of your trip, you can consider the two places in terms of these different features.

This priority gives your search a clear direction and helps you decide what to focus on during your trip.
