Traspinedo brings together hiking, resin history and a local culinary specialty. If you choose the town for a stay, you can weigh up nature, culture and cuisine based on specific local details.
Hiking between Atalaya and the Pine Forest
The PRC-VA 49 Sendero de la Atalaya is a 5.4-kilometre circular hiking trail with a low difficulty level. The total elevation gain and loss are 215 metres each. The trail leads to the Atalaya recreation area, where there is an insect hotel and an oak tree more than 200 years old.
The PRC-VA 32 Sendero de Negredo offers a different natural setting: it runs through a pine forest with Pinus pinaster, Pinus pinea and Portuguese oaks (Quercus faginea). On the Atalaya trail, the circular route, distance, difficulty level and elevation gain and loss set the scene; at Negredo, the forest and tree species shape the experience. This lets you choose between two distinct hiking profiles.
Resin History and Planning Your Visit
The Centro de Interpretación de la Resina is housed in a restored former slaughterhouse at the entrance to the Pinar de la Dehesa in Traspinedo. The centre introduces visitors to tools for tapping resin, as well as the sounds and smells of the pine forests. The customs and history of resin workers, along with the local flora and fauna, are also among the topics covered. Work tools, traditions and nature come together here, offering different ways to learn about resin extraction.
The visitor guide published in March 2026 lists visits from Friday to Sunday with free admission, which must be arranged in advance through the tourism office. If you would like to visit the centre, arrange your visit with the tourism office beforehand.
Church and Chapel
The Iglesia de San Martín de Tours is a Gothic church built between the 15th and 16th centuries. At the Ermita del Cristo del Humilladero, remnants of an ornate entrance arch and a stone cross have been preserved. The church is notable for its architectural style and construction period, while the Ermita is distinguished by the surviving architectural features.
Pincho de Lechazo and the Feria
Pincho de Lechazo de Traspinedo is made from Churro suckling lamb grilled over vine-wood embers. Both the type of meat and the cooking method are part of what defines this local specialty.
The Feria “El Sabor de la Tierra” is also a recurring event: in 2025 it reached at least its 17th edition, and in 2026 its 18th edition. Dates and programmes vary from one edition to another. If you would like to attend the Feria, check the dates and programme for the relevant edition.
