Moaña offers several specific themes for a trip: riverside trails, a town beach, water sports at Domaio Marina and Romanesque cultural heritage. When planning, it is worth first looking at the trails themselves: their lengths, difficulty levels and routes differ considerably. This makes it possible to choose according to the time available and the type of trail you want.
Riverside Trails and a Protected Area
The Ruta do Río da Fraga is 6 kilometres long and of moderate difficulty. It starts at Praia da Xunqueira and runs parallel to the riverbank along its entire length. Restored mills can be visited along the way. There are options or turn-offs leading to the Miradoiro da Fraga and waterfalls. These destinations are therefore possible additions, not automatically part of the entire route.
The Sendeiro de Rial da Arca covers a different distance: it is approximately 2.4 kilometres long, linear and of low difficulty. The trail follows the Rial da Arca stream between Igrexa do Carme in the centre of Moaña and the PO-313 road between Marín and Moaña in Sanchelán. Compared with the 6-kilometre Ruta do Río da Fraga, the stated route is shorter; the difficulty levels also differ. The length and difficulty information therefore provides a concrete basis for comparing the two trails.
At approximately 7 kilometres, the Ruta do Río da Freixa e da Miñouba is also of moderate difficulty. It runs through the parish of Domaio. Its first section starts at Praia do Almacén and passes through the Ensenada do Mouro, a protected area within the Natura 2000 network. Many waterbird species are found in this area. Here, the landscape and its habitat are also central, alongside the route’s length and difficulty level.
Coast and Water Sports
Praia do Con is an easily accessible town beach in the parish of Tirán, about 150 metres long. The calm coastal waters at Domaio Marina are suitable for Traíña regattas and various water sports. The beach and water sports are different ways to include the coast in your travel plans: the beach is described by its location and length, while the waters at Domaio are noted for their suitability for regattas and other water sports.
Romanesque Art and Industrial History
Igrexa de San Xoán de Tirán is one of the few examples of Romanesque art in the province of Pontevedra located close to the sea. This makes it a notable art-historical attraction in Moaña. Museo das Carreiras offers a different perspective on local history: this open-air museum is dedicated to the thread-making industry. The church and museum therefore represent different areas of interest: Romanesque architecture on the one hand, and the history of thread-making on the other.
A specific event date is also among the local discoveries: the Festa do Mexillón de Moaña took place on 2 August 2026 in its 28th edition.
