In Agramunt, river landscapes, architecture, visual arts, and the history of nougat and chocolate come together. The attractions have different focuses: Parc de Riella links the Sió with poetic works, cultural venues are dedicated to contemporary art and visual poetry, and the Museu del Torró i la Xocolata tells the story of the region’s confectionery and business history. A guided tour through the streets and squares of the historic centre offers another way to discover the town.
The SiĂł, the park and the cycling route
Parc de Riella lies in the Sió’s natural riverbed at the entrance to Agramunt. Its route is laid out in the shape of a figure eight and includes ten compositions based on Viladot’s poetic works. This brings together the park’s riverside setting and a literary and artistic perspective. If you want to focus on landscape and poetry as you explore, this offers a different experience from visiting the town’s exhibition venues.
The Via Verda de la Vall del Sió also offers a specific cycling connection: a 600-metre cycle tourism section links Agramunt’s urban area with the existing route. If you plan to use this section, check the route conditions before your trip. This figure refers to this section; it does not describe the length of the entire Via Verda.
Architecture, contemporary art and visual poetry
The Church of Santa Maria has three naves with pointed barrel vaults. Its architecture can therefore be appreciated through two clearly identified features. The Ruta dels Espais de Memòria d’Agramunt also includes the shelter at the Els Salats airfield, the Pou del Gel shelter, the air-raid shelter at the Church of Santa Maria, and Era de Cal Petitó. Access varies from site to site; check the conditions for each one before visiting.
Works by Josep Guinovart are permanently exhibited at Espai Guinovart. In addition to its collection, the contemporary art centre offers theatre, workshops and conferences; individual activities may change. Lo Pardal has a different focus: its design invites visitors to explore visual poetry through a sensory-guided appreciation of the works. Exhibits include visual poems, poetic objects and volumetric works. This allows you to choose between a contemporary art collection, a varied cultural programme and an exploration of visual poetry.
Nougat, chocolate and their history
The Museu del TorrĂł i la Xocolata presents the history of Agramunt nougat and chocolate, as well as the development of the Torrons Vicens company. The displays include audiovisual presentations, historical equipment and machinery. They also feature a reconstruction of the workshop used by the Vicens family in 1933. The specific presentation may change.
The Fira del TorrĂł i la Xocolata a la Pedra is also part of this history: it began in 1988 as a nougat market and grew into a meeting place for the confectionery world and for high-quality agricultural and food products. If you want to plan your trip around the Fira, check the current event dates.
Plan your stay around your interests
The guided tour “Endinsa't a Agramunt” lasts approximately one hour and 30 minutes and takes you through the most distinctive streets and squares of the historic centre. Check the tour details and conditions before your trip. Its focus differs from that of the individual cultural venues: here, the streets and squares take centre stage, while museums and exhibition venues explore specific topics in depth. When planning, you can decide whether to discover the historic urban landscape on a guided tour or spend more time exploring an art form or the history of nougat.
