Santa Susanna offers several distinct reasons to stay: two named beaches, a nautical base, cycling opportunities and historic architecture. When choosing accommodation, it is worth first asking which side of the town you want your stay to focus on: the beach and swimming, cycling, or historic sites and local attractions. This will help you tailor your hotel search to your travel dates and interests.
Beaches and swimming
Platja de Llevant is one of Santa Susanna’s two beaches; the other is called Les Caletes. The base of the Estació Nàutica de Santa Susanna is located at Platja de les Dunes beach. Open-water swimming lanes can be used by professional and recreational swimmers, provided they are marked with buoys in the sea. If swimming in open-water lanes matters to you, this marking is a specific condition of use. When planning, look out for the buoys in the sea.
Cycling for different interests
Cyclists can choose from road cycling, BTT and gravel routes. The BTT and gravel routes run through the Parc Natural del Montnegre i el Corredor. If you want to include the natural park in your choice, it is specifically associated with these two disciplines; road cycling is another option. Your preferred way of riding can therefore be a useful first filter when planning your trip.
History and other activities
The Torre de Can Ratés was built in 1584 by Bartolomé Poch next to its associated masia. The date and builder give the site a clear historical significance; today, the Torre is one of Santa Susanna’s municipal facilities and is classified as a cultural asset of national interest. Visits to the Torre, the adjoining masia and the gardens are available during business hours and by request. Check the conditions in advance. The Centre Eqüestre Santa Susanna is also intended as a riding school for anyone interested.
Market and green space
The Mercat de Productes artesanals takes place every afternoon from 1 June to 15 October on Avinguda del Mar at Passeig Marítim. If you want to include the market in your stay, plan your trip within this period and bear in mind that it takes place in the afternoon.
Parc del Colomer is a large green space with an area for children, including play equipment, swings and a water feature for cooling off. If a children’s area matters to your travel plans, these specific features can help inform your choice. This offers another distinct focus alongside the beach, cycling and cultural heritage.
These activities differ in their scheduling requirements: the market is limited to the period from 1 June to 15 October, swimming lanes require buoy markings, and visits to the Torre complex are subject to business hours and a request. If any of these are a deciding factor for you, consider the relevant date or condition before finalising your stay.
