Can Preses and the four health-focused trails along the Llobregat show two different sides of Sant Andreu de la Barca: its former agricultural landscape and activity by the river. The Festa Major is an additional seasonal reference point for planning a trip. It lasts four days and takes place on one of two possible weekends at the end of summer. This means that, when choosing your travel dates, you can consider a specific festival period alongside local history and trails.

Can Preses and Agricultural History

Can Preses is one of only two surviving farmhouses in Sant Andreu de la Barca; much of its original structure has been preserved. The grounds are home to olive trees thousands of years old, considered remnants of the former agricultural landscape. Together, the building and trees offer a tangible insight into agricultural history: the architecture and landscape point to two different aspects of the same past.

Trails along the Llobregat

Four health-focused trails are centered on the Llobregat River. They are signposted at river access points in the areas of Corbera, Josep Pla and El Palau. Depending on their distance, they are marked in green, red, orange and blue; the trail lengths range from 2.8 to 6.5 kilometers in total. To plan your day, you can first compare the distances, then use the color coding and signposted areas for guidance.

Festival Culture and Urban Art

The Festa Major takes place at the end of summer and lasts four days: the festival falls either on the last weekend of August or the first weekend of September. Because the possible dates span two months, you should check the specific dates for your chosen year before planning your trip around the festival. This makes the festival period a practical criterion for choosing your travel dates. The program includes a gathering of the giant figures and Correfocs processions through the streets of the historic center.

The first edition of KROMATIC, Sant Andreu de la Barca’s urban art festival, took place from June 3 to 23, 2025. It transformed the city’s streets into a vibrant map of large-scale murals spread across several neighborhoods. As a form of urban culture, this edition differed from the Festa Major: murals were at its heart, while the summer festival features the gathering of the giant figures and Correfocs processions in the historic center.

Tourist Information

Since 2021, the Escoles Velles building has served as a tourist information office, providing visitors with tourist information. Check the current service details before your trip if you plan to visit for guidance. As a source of tourist information, Escoles Velles has a different role from Can Preses, whose preserved farmhouse structure and olive trees offer insight into agricultural history.
