Circular trails, Mediterranean mixed forest and a wetland with remarkable biodiversity give Lliçà d'Amunt a distinctive natural profile. Churches, chapels and a traditional celebration add historical points of interest. When planning your trip, you can choose between walks, nature experiences and local cultural heritage.

Circular trails and rural paths

The short PR hiking trails are circular routes. They can be used on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. Vertical posts and signs, along with horizontal white and yellow markings, identify them. Lliçà d'Amunt also has a network of rural and forestry tracks suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding.

For a straightforward choice of route, you can opt for a circular walk totalling 12 km through the plain of the Tenes River, or another route through the hills, forests and valleys of Lliçà d'Amunt. The second route is about 15.5 km long. The two routes therefore differ in both approximate length and landscape: the 12-km loop follows the river plain, while the longer route crosses hills, forests and valleys.

Forest and wetland

Palaudàries Forest is the largest forest in Lliçà. This Mediterranean mixed forest includes Aleppo pines, pines and holm oaks, as well as oaks in the hollows. The forest landscape is shaped by both its range of tree species and their location in the hollows.

Beside the Tenes River lies Bassa de Can Dunyó, a wetland of regional interest with remarkable biodiversity. Birds from aquatic habitats are a particularly notable part of this natural richness. The forest and wetland offer different highlights: Bosc de Palaudàries focuses on mixed forest and tree species, while Bassa de Can Dunyó features wetland landscapes and birdlife.

Churches, chapels and local tradition

Sant Esteve de Palaudàries has the only Torre comunidor in the Tenes Valley. The church of Sant Esteve de Palaudàries also has a large medieval bell tower. The parish of Sant Julià de Lliçà d'Amunt is explicitly documented as a parish as early as 1014. The earliest documented mentions of the church of Santa Justa and Santa Rufina date from 1101 and 1125. The present-day chapel of Sant Baldiri was built in 1715.

These dates refer to different historical milestones: early mentions of a parish and a church, and the specific construction year of a chapel. The bell tower of Sant Esteve adds a medieval structure to this historical picture. The Aplec de Sant Baldiri is also part of local tradition and is held at Pentecost, on the Monday of the second week of Easter. If you plan to time your trip to coincide with this occasion, check the date in advance.

Missió Lliçà as another option

You can take part in Missió Lliçà using a printed leaflet or digitally on a mobile phone or tablet. The leaflet is available at the tourist information point in the Lliçà d'Amunt library. This lets you choose the format that suits you: paper or digital. Along with the circular trails and historical themes, Missió Lliçà offers another way to shape your stay, without requiring you to choose one of the routes mentioned above.
