Rail connections and getting around
Les Fonts station is served by FGC lines S1 and S2. The S1 runs between Barcelona (Plaça Catalunya) and Terrassa, while the S2 runs between Barcelona (Plaça Catalunya) and Sabadell. This gives two clearly stated directions for travel: Terrassa on the S1 and Sabadell on the S2. Terrassa is also the destination of the 3.4 km section of the Way of St. James to the city centre. Terrassa is therefore a shared reference point in the information about rail and the route, while Sabadell is named as the S2 destination.
Historic farmhouses
Can Falguera is a historic rural farmhouse with origins in the 14th or 15th century. This dating goes back to the Late Middle Ages and gives the place a long historical perspective. Can Fonollet is also a historic rural farmhouse; it is located at the end of Passeig del Ferrocarril in the Les Fonts neighbourhood. Masia refers to a rural Catalan farmhouse estate and connects the two places through their architectural form. However, their specific features differ: Can Falguera is notable for its early origins, while Can Fonollet is notable for its precisely stated location in the neighbourhood. Those interested in rural cultural heritage will find both a historical and a geographical perspective here.
The Way of St. James
The Terrassa variant of the Way of St. James begins in the Les Fonts neighbourhood, next to the Riera de RubĂ. The section from Les Fonts in the Terrassa neighbourhood to the centre of Terrassa is 3.4 km long. This identifies the starting area, destination and distance of a specific stage. The Way of St. James is marked with signs bearing the scallop shell, one of the attributes of Saint James. The symbol adds a visual marker for the route to the information about its location.
The CamĂ dels Monjos
The Camà dels Monjos has a different thematic focus. It connects the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallès with the monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt and has historical and scenic value. The route crosses the Torrent dels Àlbers before entering the built-up area of Les Fonts.
Biodiversity in the Anella Verda
Within Terrassa’s Anella Verda, the Torrent dels Àlbers is specially protected as a site of high biodiversity interest. This identifies a specific connection to biodiversity for travellers interested in nature and landscapes.
Choose routes based on your interests
The two routes differ in their stated features, which can help with trip planning. For the Way of St. James, the starting neighbourhood, destination in the centre of Terrassa and length of the section are specified. The CamĂ dels Monjos, by contrast, is defined by the connection between two monasteries and its historical and scenic value. If you want to assess a section by its distance and destination, the Way of St. James provides specific details; if you are interested in a route between two monasteries, the CamĂ offers a different point of reference. This makes it possible to choose a route based on the feature that matters to your trip planning.
