Wine country and sweeping views

Font-rubí combines farmland—mainly vineyards, fields and olive groves—with wooded hills and numerous natural springs. From the Miravinya El Balcó viewpoint, on a clear day you can see across the Penedès plain to the Mediterranean. Winegrowing, open fields and wooded heights give the area a varied landscape, while the viewpoint stands out for its own panoramic vistas.

Routes and nature

For route planning, there are three interconnected circular main routes, marked in blue, green and red. Shortcuts offer several options, so each circular route is not limited to a single fixed loop. The Ronda de Font-rubí also has a special connection to nature: one section lies within the Natura 2000 network and serves as a breeding area for threatened species. Seasonal route restrictions may change; check the latest notices before setting out.

Heritage along ancient routes

The first construction phase of El Castellot, the Castell de Font-rubí, is thought to date to the late 9th century. The site was used to monitor the strategic route known as the Via Mercadera or Carrerada. A steep path to El Castellot starts at the cemetery of the church of Sant Pere i Sant Feliu in the centre of Font-rubí. At the church itself, the side entrance bears the year 1742; remnants of a sundial can also be seen there.

La Carrerada also crosses the municipal area of Font-rubí from one end to the other. Historically, it was a transhumance route. The ruins of Sant Vicenç del Morrocurt have a different architectural character: the apse, north wall and bell tower remain. The access routes also differ. The steep path to El Castellot starts at the cemetery; you can reach Sant Vicenç del Morrocurt by car or, after parking in the Santa Maria de Bellver neighbourhood, by taking a short walk.

Recent editions have been held at the Centre recreatiu “La Cooperativa” in Guardiola de Font-rubí. As individual programmes and venues may change, check the details for your preferred date. The annual Fira Vinòleum puts local produce in the spotlight, particularly wine, olive oil and other high-quality agricultural and food products from the region. The programme includes wine and olive oil tastings, workshops, activities for children and concerts; specific dates and activities vary from one edition to the next.
