Golf Del Sur has a challenging 18-hole golf course and a coastal landscape with a beach and promenade. Visitors considering the area as a travel destination can choose between a focus on sport, nature and local cultural events.
Golf Course and Landscape
The Golf del Sur golf course opened in 1987 with a professional tournament. It has 18 holes, is considered challenging and competitive, and offers spectacular views. Ravines shape the area around the course; native cacti and palm trees are also part of the landscape.
Golf is therefore a clear focus of the area alongside coastal experiences. The nearby Montaña Amarilla Natural Monument offers a different perspective: its eroded formations display ochre and yellow tones, and the site also offers panoramic views. It is protected; check local access conditions before visiting.
Nature and Coast
The San Blas Nature Reserve is next to Golf del Sur. Guided visits include an interpretation centre and a route through the Barranco de San Blas. During these visits, visitors can learn about geology, vegetation and native fauna, as well as the indigenous history of the Guanches and traditional Canarian life.
Nearby, a coastal path runs from Amarilla Golf to the protected Montaña Amarilla Natural Monument. The route is worth considering when planning a walk; conditions on the path can change. Check them before setting out. No walking time or specific difficulty level is given for this route.
Charco de Archiles is also nearby. The area has been rehabilitated to promote marine biodiversity and offers a tranquil waterscape. At municipal level, there is also the San Miguel de Abona waterfront promenade, which includes a long walking path, rest areas, viewpoints, cycle lanes and leisure areas. Individual sections may be subject to change.
Callo del Guincho de Arriba is a natural beach in a small cove. A pedestrian promenade runs alongside it along the entire coast of the Golf del Sur residential area. The beach can only be reached via this promenade, not by vehicle. Plan your access accordingly and check conditions before your visit.
Culture and Activities
The Paseo Romero on the coast of San Miguel de Abona is an established local cultural event held annually. It takes place at the Centro Comercial San Blas in Golf del Sur; the exact dates vary from year to year. The 2026 edition’s programme includes a religious celebration, craft stalls, and performances by Orquesta Pasión Gomera and numerous folk groups. If the date is important for your trip, check the programme for the relevant edition.
Water-based activities are also among the options available locally. Ocean Jet Ski & Boat offers jet ski and banana boat activities from Puerto Marina San Miguel, Pantalán B, in Golf del Sur. Activity details and operators may change; check the information in advance. One centre offers diving and snorkelling experiences. Guided visits also take guests through the area’s colourful underwater ecosystems.
Goodiving is associated with the address Urb. Terrazas de la Paz 113, Avenida de José Miguel Galván Bello, Arona, 38639 Golf del Sur. Check the address before visiting.
