Playa Punta Prima is about 200 m long and around 75 m wide. It lies beside the Punta Prima residential area, between the headland of the same name and Punta des Marbres. From there, you can see the small islet of S’Illot des Cagaire and the larger Illa de l’Aire, with its lighthouse. White sand, clear water and a seabed of sand, rock and Posidonia characterise this stretch of coast. If you are looking for a seaside destination for your trip, the beach is a specific point of reference to help you make your choice.

Beach and Water Sports

At Playa Punta Prima, you can go stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking, and explore the coastal stretch along the shoreline. This gives you a choice of activities on the water as well as time at the beach. You can plan your day around whichever activities suit your interests.

Illa de l’Aire and the Marine Area

Illa de l’Aire lies at the southeastern tip of Menorca, about 1,500 m offshore. The small islet covers around 45 ha. The marine reserve around the island covers about 719 ha, of which 454 ha are designated as a special diving area. Up to 634 different marine species and 31 benthic communities have been recorded in the waters around the island. The specially designated diving area is therefore part of the larger reserve.

The underwater landscape also offers specific points of interest for divers: the marine area features Posidonia meadows, rocky seabeds, and numerous underwater caves and crevices, making it an attractive place to dive. The CamĂ de Cavalls passes by CalĂł Fondo, also known as Ses Olles. This low-lying, semicircular rocky area is particularly suitable for diving because of its rich seabed. Check the rules for the marine area before diving.

Coastal Path and Defence Tower

The section of the Camí de Cavalls between Binissafúller and Punta Prima is flat and has a low difficulty level. Surface conditions can vary. The coastal path connects Binibèquer, Biniancolla and Son Ganxo.

Another link to Menorca’s history is the Torre de Son Ganxo. It stands opposite Illa de l’Aire and was built between 1785 and 1787. It was restored in 2011 and is considered one of Menorca’s best-preserved defence towers. The coastal path and defence tower thus complement the beach and marine activities with a historical perspective.

Getting There and Choosing Where to Stay
