Two cycling connections and several sacred and historical sites offer different ways to explore Malé Dvorníky during a stay. The cycling routes differ in their destinations and road surfaces. In the village itself, architectural styles, places of remembrance and dates take centre stage. You can therefore choose whether to focus your plans on a cycling trip or the village’s history.

Cycling routes with different destinations

The route from Dunajská Streda via Malé Dvorníky to Dunajský Klátov runs along a cycle path and a forest path. A second cycling route also leads from Dunajská Streda via Malé Dvorníky, then continues through Veľké Dvorníky, Ohrady and Trhová Hradská to Topoľníky. Sections of this route run along a cycle path, a forest path and a paved road.

Both routes pass through Malé Dvorníky, but end in different places: the first in Dunajský Klátov, the second in Topoľníky after several more stops. You can begin choosing between them based on your preferred direction and the surfaces described for each route. One route includes a cycle path and a forest path, while the other also includes a paved road.

Kápolnadomb and sacred sites

An earthen rampart remains on the rise known as Kápolnadomb and is considered a remnant of the ring. The hill is home to the village cemetery, a church and a chapel. The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity is a local heritage site, but it is not listed in the Central Register of the Slovak Monuments Fund. In 1955, it was converted into a single-nave church with a semicircular presbytery. The date and the two architectural features give a specific architectural and historical context to a visit here.

The Lourdes Grotto is in the cemetery near the church. It contains polychrome statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bernadette. Only a Baroque image of the Holy Trinity, which formed part of the altar, survives from the original furnishings of the Trinity Chapel. These details point to different forms of religious art: the statues in the grotto and the surviving altarpiece.

Kalvária and other traces of history

Kalvária is on a small rise at the northern edge of Malé Dvorníky, near a Trinity Chapel. It consists of three crosses. Each crucified figure stands on its own pedestal, shaped like a stone hill. Before 1978, Kalvária was moved to the Malé Dvorníky branch, where it still stands today.

Other traces of history are scattered across different parts of the municipality. The statue of Christ Triumphant in the centre was erected in 1877. The cemetery’s main cross dates from 1730. The kúria on Malá ulica dates from the late 19th century and was restored in 2013. Together, these examples reflect different periods: a dated cemetery cross, a central statue and a restored building.

Seasonal occasion and orientation

Malé Dvorníky is near the Klátov branch. There is also an unusual rest area with a reed roof in the immediate vicinity of the municipal office. The village festival takes place every year on the first Sunday after Pentecost. If you would like to combine your visit with the festival, check the current programme before travelling. This lets you take a recurring event into account when planning, while choosing the local cycling routes or historical sites as the focus of your visit.
