Discover Púchov through its long historical timeline: At Púchovská skala, cultural periods from the Early Stone Age to Roman times have been identified. The city also has buildings, places of remembrance and a craft with a long history.
Archaeological Traces and the Župný dom
The Púchov culture dates from the 2nd century BC to the 2nd century AD; its heyday was in the 1st century AD. The Museum of the Púchov Culture is located in the Župný dom. Its exhibition includes selected archaeological artefacts: fibulae, a neck-ring form, parts of axes, spears, a javelin, a knife, and smaller tools and implements. The specific selection may change.
The building also tells a story of changing uses: The Baroque-Classical Župný dom was built by Imrich Marczibányi at the end of the 18th century and originally served as a salt storehouse and administrative building. Today, it houses the museum. These different functions place the building in two distinct chapters of the city’s history.
Places of Remembrance and Architectural History
Built in 1904, the memorial parish church on Moravská ulica was the place of work of Slovak poet and Protestant pastor Vladimír Roy from 1911 to 1925. Another memorial plaque in Púchov commemorates Jan Amos Comenius’s stay.
The Protestant church, a Neo-Gothic building dating from 1880, is also located on Moravská ulica. Inside stands a Renaissance altar from 1643. The building and altar thus represent different periods of origin.
Blueprint and Natural Heritage
The historic Púchov blueprint workshop has been in Púchov since 1898, after being moved there from Záriečie. The site was registered in 1988 as an immovable national cultural monument under number ÚZPF 10055/1.
The “Pamäť lesa” educational trail was created to make the cultural and natural heritage of the cross-border region more appealing to residents and visitors. One information point includes a viewpoint, seating, a memorial stone and an information board.

The seasonal outdoor swimming pool is open to the general public, the swimming club, holiday camps and sports training camps. The skatepark is open to the public. Its features include a quarterpipe, a bank ramp, a funbox with a grind box and a ledge. The facilities may be changed during maintenance work; also check the operator’s seasonal opening hours before visiting.
The Mikulášsky jarmok takes place on the first Saturday in December in Púchov’s pedestrian zone; its tradition began in 2004. The programme may vary from one edition to the next. The Folklórny Púchov festival dates back to 1982. The dance and singing performances are preceded by a procession in traditional dress through the city; dates vary from year to year.
