The public medical wellness centre at Kúpele Nimnica includes a swimming pool and Finnish, herbal steam, salt steam, and infrared saunas. Kúpele Nimnica lies at the foot of a spur of the Javorníky Mountains, directly above the Nosická Reservoir. Its natural healing spring supplies highly mineralised, carbonated, hydrogencarbonate-sodium and iodine-rich water. This highlights two distinct aspects of the spa: its scenic setting above the reservoir and the composition of its spring water.
Walking and Cycling Routes
Visitors wishing to add some activity to their stay can choose between a hiking route and a named cycling route. The climb to Holíš leads from the church via Kúpele Nimnica to Holíš and continues to the meadow below Holíš. The “Kúpele Nimnica–Malý Javorník” cycling route starts at the “Nimnica, kúpele” signpost and follows the red-marked Vážska cycling route past the reservoir and the harbour. This gives visitors a choice of different routes: the climb to Holíš or the cycling route by the water and harbour.
At the next junction on the cycling route there is a hiking shelter, several rest areas, an outdoor fitness area, and a spring with drinking water. These facilities provide practical reference points for route planning.
Local History and Events
The area of today's municipality of Nimnica was home to a settlement from the La Tène period and a Púchov culture settlement from the Roman period. These relate to different eras; the Púchov culture is associated with the settlement from the Roman period. The “Kostol Fatimskej Panny Márie” church is a branch church in Nimnica. Alongside wellness and routes, the town therefore has an early settlement history and a religious landmark.
Event dates can also be useful when planning a trip. The fourth edition of “Nimnická gulášovica,” a goulash cooking competition, was scheduled for 15 August 2026 from 13:30 to 23:59 in Nimnica. The recurring “Nimnický vianočný jarmok” is a Christmas market; the edition on 13 December 2025 at 12:00 was held in conjunction with the third edition of a kapustnica cooking competition. Getting There and Finding Accommodation
