Thermal waters, outdoor exercise and monastery history give Banja a range of different attractions. To help plan your stay, the pools, two described routes and the Monastery of Saint Nicholas offer concrete options—depending on whether you would like to focus on time in the water, a walk or historical topics.

Thermal Water in Several Pools

A programme description dated 22 August 2025 lists health treatments in covered thermal water pools, a thermal water spa pool and an outdoor thermal water swimming pool in Pribojska Banja. The Stara Banja pool is located above the main spring. Three pools known as Nova Banja lie above the second spring. This is how the two spring areas and their respective pools are named. If the water facilities are a key factor in your trip, check in advance which areas are currently available.

Health Trail and Viewpoint

The health trail was created in 2024 and is approximately 1,500 metres long. It passes through a mixed forest of coniferous and deciduous trees and has gentle ascents and descents. A description from 2025 also mentions LED lighting and regular use by tourists. The length and terrain profile give you an idea of what to expect on the walk: the trail is not level throughout.

Another named route is the Banja–Banjsko brdo–Pjevčevo vrelo–Banja route. It starts and ends at the “Nikola Tesla” Primary School in Pribojska Banja and is described as well maintained and marked. The route reaches the viewpoint on Banjsko brdo; from the summit, there is a 360-degree panoramic view. This offers an option alongside the health trail, with a specifically named viewpoint as its destination.

Location and Getting There

Pribojska Banja lies in the valley of the Lim River, between the local mountains of Lisja Stena and Ljeskovac. You can reach the town by the Belgrade–Bar railway line or the Belgrade–Podgorica main road; access is via a turnoff near Kokin Brod. If you plan to travel by train, check the timetable for your travel date. The location in the Lim Valley and the named mountains also give you an idea of the landscape surrounding the town.

The Monastery of Saint Nicholas

The Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Banja was built in the second half of the 12th century. Saint Sava founded one of the first six dioceses of the autocephalous Serbian Church there. The monastery complex comprises three churches: the Church of Saint Nicholas, the Church of Saint Elijah and the Church of the Dormition of the Holy Virgin.

The monastery’s most recent restoration was completed in 1905. The monastery treasury was discovered in this area in 1974 and is considered one of the best-preserved and most complete medieval treasuries in the Balkans. Together, the construction date, religious significance, restoration and discovery span a period from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. For your trip planning, the monastery offers a distinct cultural focus alongside the thermal waters and trails.
