Ścibórz lies on the southern shore of Lake Otmuchów. The village brings together a palace that has survived to this day, several accommodation options and two unmarked cycling routes. These three topics answer different questions when choosing a destination: the lakeside location situates Ścibórz, the palace provides a specific historical connection, and the routes offer two possibilities for planning a cycling trip through the village. You can consider which matters most to you alongside the type of accommodation and the desired route length.
Accommodation in Ścibórz
Ścibórz has several agritourism businesses and holiday complexes, as well as several restaurants. When choosing accommodation, you can first decide on the type you want, then check which specific provider suits your travel dates. Availability may change, so confirm it directly with the provider before booking.
The palace and its history
The palace in Ścibórz, which has survived to this day, was built in 1668 by Jan Henryk Heymann von Rosenthal. Original Baroque stucco work, grille and hardware details, and a heraldic cartouche have been preserved in the palace. The name of the builder and the year place its construction in a specific historical period and connect it with a specific person; the surviving features add concrete architectural details to this context. Stucco refers to sculpted architectural ornament; grilles and hardware are other named decorative elements, while the heraldic cartouche adds a connection to coats of arms. Together, they create a distinctive architectural feature that goes beyond the year alone. For visitors interested in culture, this is an independent historical highlight alongside the village’s location.
Two unmarked cycling routes
An approximately 30 km unmarked cycling route leads from Paczków through Stary Paczków, Wilamowa and Ścibórz, then continues through Trzeboszowice, Dziewiętlice, Ujeździec, Lisie Kąty, Unikowice, Gościce and Kamienica before returning to Paczków.
The second route is also unmarked and is approximately 22 km long. From Paczków, it runs through Ścibórz, Frydrychów, Otmuchów, Sarnowice, Ligota Wielka, Lubiatów and Podmianów Dolny before returning to Paczków. Approximately 15 km of the route lie within the municipality of Paczków; this figure refers to part of the route and should be distinguished from the total distance of around 22 km.
Both routes pass through Ścibórz and start and finish in Paczków. At approximately 22 km and 30 km, respectively, they differ by about eight kilometres; both figures are approximate. On the longer route, Stary Paczków and Wilamowa come before Ścibórz; on the shorter route, Ścibórz comes directly after Paczków. The 22 km route then goes through Frydrychów and Otmuchów, while the longer route passes through Trzeboszowice and includes Kamienica. For the 22 km route, approximately 15 km are also specified as lying within the municipality of Paczków. This figure describes part of the route, not the total length of the circuit. Since neither route is marked, plan your navigation in advance and check current route conditions.
