Bad Reinerz (Duszniki-Zdrój) consists of an older district and a newer spa district. The spa district includes a park, the F. Chopin Spa Theatre, walking promenades and ponds. Zieleniec is a somewhat more distant but also integrated district; it is home to the Zieleniec Sport Arena. When comparing accommodation, consider the location in relation to which district and attractions matter for your trip.
Getting your bearings: districts and arrival
The town lies in the Duszniki depression at an elevation of 530 to 1,084 metres, between the Bystrzyckie, Orlickie and Stołowe Mountains. These elevations and the location between the mountain ranges provide the geographical context for a stay; on their own, they say nothing about individual trails or their level of difficulty.
Bad Reinerz railway station is in the northern part of town, near the intersection of Dworcowa and Słowackiego streets. The walk from the station to the market square takes about ten minutes. The platforms are equipped with ramps for wheelchair users. If you rely on this feature, check current accessibility before travelling; verify specific train connections separately.
Spa district, park and garden
The Spa Park is the central part of the spa district and has been listed in the register of monuments since 1986 under number 1116/WŁz. In the phenological garden, plants are arranged according to the four seasons. Large wooden sculptures depict a pine cone, a spruce cone, a chestnut, an acorn and a pod. The garden’s seasonal layout and the striking shapes of the sculptures are the focus of a visit to the park.
Paper history and Chopin
The Bad Reinerz paper mill is more than 450 years old. The permanent exhibitions at the Muzeum Papiernictwa explore the history of paper and its production around the world, in Poland and in Silesia. The traditional process can also be understood through its individual steps: papermakers dip screens into a vat and press the layer of pulp they have scooped up onto a water-absorbing felt. This is how each individual sheet of paper is made.
Fryderyk Chopin is another historical figure connected with the town. The first Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój took place in August 1946, on the 120th anniversary of Chopin’s concert there. This date places the festival’s beginnings in a specific historical context.
Routes and activities
When choosing an activity, it is worth distinguishing between the types of routes described. The four singletrack loop trails in Duszniki-Zdrój run from Orlica via Sołtysia Kopa and Tauron Duszniki Arena to the town centre. The paved routes at Dusznicka Arena are suitable for running, Nordic walking, cycling and roller skiing. Check the current conditions at the facility before setting out.
Bad Reinerz also has a green health trail with outdoor fitness equipment. As equipment and availability can change, it is worth checking the current conditions here, too. The options therefore differ not only in activity, but also in their described format: loop trails, paved routes and a health trail with fitness equipment.
