Bad Langenau, also known as Długopole-Zdrój, brings together spa traditions, mineral water and a distinctive valley setting. The town lies at the foot of the Góry Bystrzyckie and on the banks of the Nysa Kłodzka. The spa park, drinking halls and historic spa buildings give your stay a clear focus; the sunny, sheltered valley also shapes the spa climate. When planning a trip, you can give these aspects the emphasis that suits your interests: walking paths and mineral water offer a different focus from architectural history and scenery.

Location and Getting There

The spa climate is considered particularly valuable because of the town’s location in a sunny, sheltered valley. The history of travel to the town reveals another chapter in its past as a spa resort: the railway station built in Długopole in 1882 once made it convenient for spa guests to get there. If you plan to travel by train today, check current connections before making plans.

Spa Park and Mineral Water

Długopole-Zdrój’s spa park lies in the town center and features walking paths and a drinking hall for mineral water. The Park Zdrojowy in Długopole-Zdrój now covers about 30 hectares. This makes the park a different scale from individual historic buildings; during your stay, you can therefore treat the park and spa architecture as distinct points of interest.

The Zakład Przyrodoleczniczy Karol has a drinking hall for local mineral waters and a direct source of Renata, a bicarbonate water. This water contains iron, calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium and silicon. The spa park’s facilities include walking paths and a drinking hall; Karol also has a named spring with a specific composition. This means you can explore the mineral water theme both through the park and through Renata.

Spa Architecture and Local History

The town’s spa history can also be traced through individual buildings. Next to the Szpital Uzdrowiskowy Mieszko, built in 1881, is the Neo-Gothic Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa). The Park Zdrojowy contains a bathhouse built in 1834 and remodeled in 1906; it is now used as the Dąbrówka Sanatorium. The bathhouse is therefore older than the hospital, and its remodeling came later. The chapel’s style and location beside the hospital are its defining features; the bathhouse combines its earlier building history with its present use as a sanatorium. The construction dates are close: the hospital was built in 1881 and the railway station in 1882. The bathhouse, built in 1834, is considerably older; its remodeling in 1906 marks a later phase. The spa’s history therefore spans several decades, from an early bathhouse through the nearly contemporaneous buildings to a later structural alteration.
