The Stryków Reservoir gives a stay in Stryków a clear focus on the water. Created on the Moszczenica in 1990, the body of water covers 12.6 hectares. Trails, historic buildings and memorial sites also shape a visit. This gives trip planning two distinct focal points: seasonal facilities along the shore and local history.

Water at the Stryków Reservoir

On the left bank of the reservoir, on Legionów Street, there is a free bathing area and a beach. Swimming is available seasonally. If you are travelling to Stryków mainly to swim, you should take this timeframe into account when planning. In summer, boat rentals add to the facilities; pedal boats, boats and kayaks are available.

The beach and bathing area offer time by the water, while the rental boats provide an activity on the lake. The facilities also differ in terms of timing: the bathing area is seasonal, while boat rentals are offered in summer. This distinction can help you choose the right focus for your travel dates.

Route towards Warszewice

The Stryków–Warszewice connecting trail begins in Stryków at a road junction beside the Catholic church. From the starting point, it heads east towards Sierżnia and then towards Cesarka. The trail also runs towards Warszewice and connects with the green trail through Łódź Heights Landscape Park. This means that, alongside time by the water, visitors can also explore trails with clearly named destinations.

Historic architecture in Stryków

Stryków’s overall architectural townscape is considered historic. The Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin is a religious building from the early 20th century and is among the religious buildings listed in the register of monuments or recorded by the Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments. The town hall also dates from the early 20th century; it was rebuilt between 1945 and 1951, after the Second World War.

A distinctive monument dating from 1979 stands in front of the town hall, its pedestal decorated with an open book. Stryków railway station also dates from the early 20th century and was renovated in 2014. These buildings offer a way to compare different periods in the town’s history: construction, post-war reconstruction and later renovation.

Monuments and memorial sites

The Independence Monument in Stryków was erected in 2018 to mark the centenary of Poland regaining its independence. Seven historical plaques were added to the monument in 2021. The two dates show that the monument and plaques were added at different times.

The monument to the heroes of the January Uprising is located in the Roman Catholic parish cemetery. Students donated it to mark the centenary of the uprising. The cemetery of the Old Catholic Mariavite community contains a war grave of Polish soldiers who fell in September 1939. Commemorative ceremonies marking the Soviet invasion of Poland are held there every year on 17 September.

The memorial sites differ both in the events they commemorate and in their form: one is a donated monument to the January Uprising, while the other is a war grave associated with annual commemorative ceremonies.
