Jaszczurowa combines a historically significant castle and park complex with boat trips on Lake Mucharskie and hiking destinations on and near the lake. There are several distinct options to consider when planning: architecture and park design, a cruise with a clearly defined duration, or summit destinations in two mountain ranges. There is also a concrete difference between cruises and boat rentals, while hiking destinations can be compared by mountain range and summit elevation.

Cultural History in Jaszczurowa

The castle and park complex has significant historical value in the Nadskawie region and is considered a high-quality architectural and landscape composition. It includes surviving features of an English landscape garden. The complex is privately owned, access is limited, and it can be viewed from the outside. For a visit, therefore, viewing it from outside is the main option.

Another cultural and historical perspective is offered by the memorial room dedicated to the writer Janina Barbara GĂłrkiewiczowa. It was established in 2007 and is located in the primary school in Jaszczurowa. The memorial to a writer and the castle and park complex thus complement each other as distinct cultural points of interest: literature here, architecture and designed landscape there.

Cruises and Boat Rentals

Sightseeing cruises on Lake Mucharskie start and end at Jaszczurowa harbour. One specific option is a 45-minute cruise on the “Róża Wiatrów” ship or the “Szafir” gondola. The duration gives these cruises a manageable place in your day’s itinerary. Seasonal schedules may change; check the current timetable before planning your trip.

Przystań WindMill rents pedal boats, electrically powered pedal boats, kayaks, electric Chillboat boats and jet skis. While the cruise duration is specified, rental options differ by boat type. For seasonal rental availability, please check the current information provided by the operator.

Hiking Destinations by Lake Mucharskie and a Trail to Leskowiec

Three hiking trails by Lake Mucharskie and in its immediate surroundings lead to summits in the Beskid Makowski and Beskid Mały. The Beskid Makowski includes Jaroszowicka Góra (541 m), Starowidz (534 m) and Chełm (603 m); in the Beskid Mały are Żmijowa (595 m), Gołuszkowa Góra (715 m) and Magurka Ponikiewska (790 m). The summits can therefore be compared both by mountain range and by elevation. The lowest of the listed elevations is Starowidz, and the highest is Magurka Ponikiewska—a useful comparison before choosing a destination.

An unmarked route to Leskowiec (922 m) starts at the last PKS bus stop in Jaszczurowa (Pętla). It follows a gravel road to the Dudówka settlement and then runs alongside the Jaszczurówka stream. The route is unmarked, so its starting point and the sequence of the listed landmarks are specific features of this approach. When planning a hike, you can therefore distinguish between summit destinations by the lake and the described route to Leskowiec.
