Rzyki brings together different ways to spend a stay: a nature trail through woodland and rocky landscapes, routes towards Leskowiec and Groń Jana Pawła II, a ski resort and local history. Accommodation options also vary: Czarny Groń offers several types of lodging, including houses for six people. Which one suits your trip depends on the activities and type of accommodation you are looking for.
Hiking and scenery around Rzyki
The Ścieżka Czarny Groń nature trail is about 7.5 kilometres long. It starts and ends at the Czarny Groń centre in Rzyki and leads through the Pracica stream valley and across Smrekowica, Łamana Skała and Potrójna. Along the way, the route takes in a range of ecosystems, especially woodland landscapes, as well as interesting rock formations. The circular route provides a clear framework for planning: the start and finish are at the same centre, and its length is given as about 7.5 kilometres.
Rzyki also provides direct access to mountain hiking trails towards Leskowiec and Groń Jana Pawła II. Those interested in other routes can also consider a section of the Beskidzka Droga św. Jakuba. This Way of St. James through the Beskids is almost 300 kilometres long; part of it can be travelled on foot or by mountain bike from Rzyki. For choosing your route, the approximately 7.5-kilometre nature trail offers a clearly measured option; you can also plan mountain hiking trails towards Leskowiec and Groń Jana Pawła II, or a section of the longer Way of St. James through the Beskids.
Cycling route and ski resort
An 18-kilometre cycling route is described, running from Andrychów via Rzyki Centrum and Rzyki Praciaki and back to Andrychów. Rzyki is part of the route; the start and finish are in Andrychów. Together with the approximately 7.5-kilometre nature trail, this gives you two clearly distinct options: a shorter walking route that starts and ends at the Czarny Groń centre, and a longer cycling route starting and finishing in Andrychów.
The Czarny Groń ski resort in Rzyki has four illuminated runs and modern ski lifts. The ski school offers lessons with qualified instructors for people of all ages, regardless of their previous experience. The offer is therefore not limited to a particular age group or to people who already have experience. The four illuminated runs and the ski school are useful points of reference if you are considering a ski-focused stay in Rzyki.
Accommodation and planning your stay
Czarny Groń’s accommodation options include a Hotel**** & SPA, an inn, slope-side accommodation and houses for six people. The houses are therefore a named option for a group of that size; other types of accommodation are available too.
A bus service is also relevant for getting around: Andrychów’s municipal transport operator runs route 7, which serves Rzyki, and provides a timetable for download. If you are planning your journey around this service, check the current timetable, as routes can change. The timetable provided can help you factor this option into your plans.
Church and regional history
St. James’s Church in Rzyki was built between 1793 and 1796. It was founded by Princess Apolonia Potocka, heir to the estates of Zator. Among its most valuable furnishings are a Gothic sculpture dating from 1400 and another from the 16th century. The construction period, founder and two sculptures provide different historical reference points for the area.
The history of weaving extends beyond the village itself. After the First Partition of Poland in 1772, there were 700 weaving workshops in Andrychów and the surrounding villages, including Rzyki. They exported locally made cloth to Europe and Asia. The figure refers to Andrychów and the surrounding villages together, not Rzyki alone. A stay can therefore take in both the history of the church and the regional significance of the cloth trade.
