Cultural heritage between Majapahit and Mataram
In Lumajang Regency, you can explore cultural heritage at Situs Biting as well as waterfalls, lakes and bathing areas. Situs Biting is located in Dusun Biting, Desa Kutorenon, Kecamatan Sukodono. The site is a fortress and settlement dating from the Majapahit period to the Islamic Mataram Kingdom. Archaeological research links it to the history of the Majapahit Kingdom. On April 10, 2018, East Java Province designated Situs Biting as a cultural heritage area. Its fortifications, settlement and connection to a long historical period give the site several cultural and historical dimensions.
For a religious perspective, visit Pura Mandara Giri Semeru Agung in Sumberagung, Kecamatan Senduro. Piodalan or Odalan is an annual Hindu festival held at this temple. The bathing destinations also differ in their features. Pemandian Alam Selokambang in Desa Purwosono, Kecamatan Sumbersuko, is a natural bathing area with a swimming pool and a lake. Grati Park in Desa Grati, also in Kecamatan Sumbersuko, is a bathing destination with swimming pools for adults and children, as well as a fishing pond.
