In Feked, you can explore village history, religious heritage and trails as distinct highlights. The church and renovated houses tell the story of the area’s architectural history; Calvary hill and crosses along hiking trails lead you to religious heritage and local memories. For your planning, it is also worth distinguishing between an independent hike, a village tour available on request and the date of the Stifolder Festival.

Architectural history in Feked

The Roman Catholic church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It was built in 1765 in the Baroque style on the site of a former wooden church and expanded in 1846. These two dates provide a brief timeline of the sacred building’s history. If you are interested in how a place has developed, this offers a concrete starting point, while the church’s history extends beyond the period when it was built: its former predecessor and later expansion are part of that story too.

The architectural heritage also includes numerous renovated houses. In the early 2000s, the façades of around 60 houses were renewed; most of these houses are protected locally. The approximate number and timeframe make clear that the renovation affected more than a single building. Together with the church, they offer a glimpse of different aspects of local architecture: a sacred building with a Baroque history and houses whose façades were renovated more recently.

Calvary hill and local memory

A Calvary with fourteen Stations of the Cross is located in the cemetery. They ascend the steep slope to the stone cross of Christ and the two thieves. The number of stations and their route describe this place more precisely than simply mentioning Calvary: it is laid out as a sequence of stations leading towards a specific destination.

The crosses around Feked are also connected with paths and memories. Hiking trails lead to several crosses erected at the edge of the village, in the woods or in fields along roads and at crossroads. Some of the stories associated with them remain alive in local memory. The crosses are therefore not just individual landmarks, but also part of a cultural landscape that you can explore while hiking around the village.

Hiking trails with different starting points

A green-marked, signposted circular route starts and ends in Feked. It is 13.2 kilometres long and takes around 3.5 to 4 hours. The distance and walking time will help you estimate how much time this hike requires. Check the markings and conditions locally before setting out.

North of Feked, the blue-marked National Hiking Trail runs along the boundary between Feked and Ófalu. The two descriptions offer different points of reference: the green route is a loop that starts and ends in Feked; the blue-marked route lies north of the village and follows the boundary between the two villages. This makes it easy to distinguish the routes according to whether you are looking for a loop that begins and ends in Feked or would prefer to follow the northern boundary route.

Village tour, educational trail and festival

Organised village tours are available on request. During a short walk through the village centre, a guide introduces Feked’s history, traditions, architecture, sights and everyday life. The tour brings together several aspects of the village. The Feked educational trail, established in 2018, also offers insights into local culture, but focuses on different themes: the customs, everyday life and festivals of the Swabians of Feked. It can be visited freely at any time without a guide. The difference is clear for planning purposes: the village tour is available on request and accompanied by a guide, while the trail is described as suitable for self-guided visits.

Another way to discover local traditions is the Stifolderfest village day, held annually since 2010 on the first Saturday after Pentecost as part of the village’s kermesse celebrations. The event centres on smoked paprika sausage, which is well known in the area. The exact calendar date may vary from year to year, so check the date for your trip. The history of Stifolder sausage also extends beyond the village: its basic recipe came to southern Hungary with German settlers in the 18th century. The festival thus represents both a tradition in Feked and a historical culinary connection to the wider region.
