The Krückau Walking Trail and the Krückau lowlands make landscape and outdoor activity a focus in Kölln-Reisiek. Other highlights include a historic farmstead at Dorfstraße 3, Köllner Hof and a seasonal kayaking activity on the Krückau.

Walking the Krückau Walking Trail

The Krückau Walking Trail passes through green areas of Kölln-Reisiek and follows routes along Stabeltwiete and Widentwiete. Near the A23 underpass, it returns to the Krückau. The route is primarily intended for walking; cyclists may also use it.

Some adjoining areas are floodplains, so the ground may be wet and your feet may get wet. If you are walking there, take possible damp conditions into account when choosing your footwear.

Historic farmstead at Dorfstraße 3

The historic farmstead is defined by two large thatched buildings. The main house is a 13-bay timber-framed hall house; the farmstead also includes an eight-bay, three-aisle barn. The main house therefore has five more bays than the barn.

During the restoration, the foundations were secured, load-bearing elements and weatherboarding were repaired or replaced, and the roof was renewed. The completed work thus extended from the foundations to the roof and forms part of the farmstead’s building history.

Herons and the Krückau lowlands

The heron has been Kölln-Reisiek’s heraldic animal since 1982. At the beginning of the 20th century, a large heron colony lived in the Köllner Wried. The Krückau lowlands are an important feeding ground for herons; Kölln-Reisiek supports measures to preserve and restore them.

Farming at Köllner Hof

Köllner Hof has been associated with a farm operated according to Bioland standards since 1989. The farm grows fresh vegetables and strawberries to organic standards and offers a vegetable box containing its own freshly harvested produce. The selection changes weekly and depends on the season. If a particular combination is important for your plans, ask about the current selection, as product availability may change.

Summer on the Krückau

The Elmshorn hiking paddlers train on the Krückau as far as Kölln-Reisiek and go kayaking together in summer. The activity is seasonal; arrangements for taking part may change. If you are considering joining, check the current arrangements in advance.
