St. Mary's Church is a landmark in Lippstadt's old town, notable for its size and diverse architectural styles. Construction began shortly after Lippstadt was founded in 1185. In 1222, Bernhard II personally consecrated it in his capacity as Bishop of Selonien. Its named architectural features include a Gothic sacrament tower and a Baroque altar. The Lippe floodplains invite you to enjoy relaxing walks or picnics. In the GrĂĽner Winkel, the old stone weir offers an impressive view of the Lippe and is a popular photo spot.
