Havelsee can be explored through two clearly distinct travel themes: cultural history, particularly in Pritzerbe, and nature and outdoor activities. In Pritzerbe, reed craft, the museum ship and the church take centre stage; the natural attractions include Lake Pritzerber See and the Marzahner Fenn and Dünenheide trail. Bathing spots by the water offer another reason to decide how to balance your interests during your stay. First consider whether cultural sites, trails or time by the water should take up the most of your visit.

Pritzerbe: Craft and Local History

The ferry has connected Pritzerbe on the eastern bank of the Havel with Kützkow on the western bank since at least 1385. Check the timetable when planning your day. Look it up in advance if you intend to include the crossing in your visit.

The Pritzerbe reed weaving workshop is said to be the last of its kind in Germany. The museum covers craft and local history; visitors can weave reeds under expert guidance. If you plan to try weaving, find out about current visiting options in advance. The site also includes a wooden reed experience walkway, which leads into the reed zone and the grazing belt of the Untere Havel Süd nature reserve.

The museum ship Ilse-Lucie in Pritzerbe harbour is a technical monument. St. Marien was reconsecrated in 1783 after an earlier church was partially destroyed in the town fire of 1773. The organ dates from 1737 and was built by J. Wagner. The dates refer to different events: 1737 to the organ, 1773 to the town fire and 1783 to the reconsecration.

Lake, Protected Areas and Scenic Trails

Lake Pritzerber See is considered a remnant meander of the former course of the Elbe. It is protected as part of the Untere Havel Süd nature reserve, the Westhavelland Landscape Protection Area and Westhavelland Nature Park, as well as an FFH site and an SPA bird protection area. The lake is used for walks and cycling tours. The Marzahner Fenn and Dünenheide trail offers a different nature experience, passing through wet meadows, heathland and dry grassland. This gives you the choice between tours by the lake and a trail whose landscape is shaped by these different habitats.

Bathing Spots and Outdoor Activities

The two bathing spots offer different ways to enjoy a stay by the water. The bathing spot in Pritzerbe is right on the banks of the Havel and has a sunbathing lawn and two benches. The bathing spot at Weißen See is in a forest between Hohenferchesar and Marzahne and also serves as a rest stop for walks towards Seelensdorf or Marzahne. Check access and facilities at Weißen See before you travel; for the bathing spot in Pritzerbe, it is worth checking the current condition of the facilities.

Outdoor activities in Havelsee include cycling, hiking, fishing and boating on the Havel. Together with trails through varied landscapes and the bathing spots, these offer different ways to spend time outdoors.
