Sinzing offers two different starting points for planning a trip: golf and hiking on the Burgensteig Trail in the Tal der Schwarzen Laber. You can first decide which activity you would like to shape your stay.

Golf and the Burgensteig Trail in Sinzing

The Golf & Yachtclub Gut Minoritenhof in Sinzing has an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course. The Burgensteig Trail in the Tal der Schwarzen Laber runs between Sinzing and Beratzhausen. One route starts at Sinzing railway station and runs mostly westward through the town along the Laber. Check current route information before setting off.

The differences are clear: golf offers a choice of two course formats, while the Burgensteig Trail’s starting point and route provide guidance for planning your hike. The trail extends beyond Sinzing in the direction of Beratzhausen. This lets you treat the route as a focus in its own right, rather than equating it with the golf offering.

More destinations in the Regensburg travel region

In the Regensburg travel region, the Walhalla is one of Germany’s significant Neoclassical buildings. Its exterior is Doric and features 52 columns. Since 1842, this memorial hall has honoured distinguished Germans and figures associated with German history with marble busts and commemorative plaques.

From Regensburg’s Stone Bridge to the foot of the Walhalla, passenger boats operated by Klinger and Wurm & Noé run on the Danube from Easter to October. Check operating days in advance. From the bus stop, an approximately 20-minute walk up 358 steps leads to the Walhalla.

Another cultural and scenic option in the Regensburg travel region is the nine-hectare Nepal-Himalaya Park in Wiesent. It combines Asian culture and nature with a Nepalese temple, a diverse perennial garden and numerous Asian works of art. The grounds include a Himalayan garden and a Chinese garden, as well as more than 6,200 different plant species. Here, gardens and plant diversity offer a contrast to a visit focused on memorial architecture.

For another route option, the signposted Fruit Experience Trail runs for approximately 34 kilometres from Hemau via Beratzhausen to Kallmünz. Twelve large information boards line the cycling route. In the Regensburg travel region, Wolfsegg Castle is also one of the region’s best-preserved castle complexes.

The Regensburg climbing forest in Riegling near Sinzing offers a different kind of activity from the Burgensteig Trail: it has 14 courses and 135 climbing elements of varying difficulty. This means that, alongside the hiking route, visitors to the Regensburg travel region can also choose from a range of climbing courses. In the wider Regensburg travel region, Dream Alpakas offers guided alpaca hikes, also known as alpaca trekking, from its alpaca farm in Altenthann. Confirm that the experience is available before booking.
