There are two main themes to explore during a stay in Weilbach: buildings and local history within the municipality, and trails and destinations in Weilbach Forest and on nearby Gotthardsberg. You can plan your day around whether you want to focus on historic sites or prefer a cycling or hiking tour. The destinations vary in scale: some are in the town center, others in the district of Weckbach or the surrounding area.

Buildings and local history

The Catholic Church of St. John in Weilbach dates from 1789. The Dreiröhrenbrunnen fountain, with a Baroque relief, stands in the town center. At the northwestern edge of town is the Mudmühle mill, built in 1585 and featuring a Renaissance gable. The fountain in the center and the mill at the edge of town mark different locations and periods of construction. A carillon can be heard daily in the old schoolyard by the town hall. If you plan your visit around it, check the appropriate time locally.

Weckbach Village Museum

The village museum is located in a former schoolhouse in Weckbach, a district of the municipality of Weilbach. The exhibition covers the church, municipality, school, clubs, household life, and agriculture and forestry. Larger objects, including agricultural equipment, are displayed in a museum barn and in an outdoor area. Objects and topics from different areas of life thus complement the historic buildings in the municipality. The village museum is listed as open on the last Sunday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m. Check in advance whether a visit is possible at that time.

Walking and cycling routes

Circular route W 6 starts at the Dreiröhrenbrunnen fountain in the town center and crosses the Mud Bridge into the Ohrnbach Valley. It therefore begins at a prominent spot in the center and heads toward the valley. Markings and conditions may change; check them before setting out. For cyclists, the Miltenberg/Amorbach cycle path runs directly through Weilbach. The Limes Cycle Route, the Three-Country Cycle Route, and the Main-Tauber-Franconian Cycle Loop are different: these routes pass through the municipality of Weilbach. Conditions on these routes may change, so check before your ride.

Forest, vineyard terraces, and Gotthardsberg

Weilbach Forest includes destinations such as Hallsteine, Wolfgangsee, and Zigeunersteine. Vineyard terraces lie on the lower slope of Weilbachkopf, where vines have been grown again since 1975. These add another landscape feature and the history of winegrowing to the named forest destinations.

Nearby, the Weilbach Forest Discovery Trail is located on Gotthardsberg. It was designed for young families but is also suitable for anyone interested and for groups. Twelve stations, viewing holes, and tree-species information boards provide specific stops along the route. The nearby Gotthardsberg is also home to the Gotthardsruine, a Gothic pillar basilica on a hilltop. The trail and the ruin offer different reasons to include Gotthardsberg in your plans, while routes in Weilbach and the municipality provide further options for cycling or hiking tours.
