Gosheim offers several ways to enjoy a stay: the Holy Cross Church adds a historic touch, the Jurabad offers pools and other swimming facilities, and Mount Lemberg, with its tower, lies nearby. There is also a walking and cycling route, a pond shore, three playgrounds and biathlon training. You can choose between local history, exercise, swimming and views of the landscape.

History at the Holy Cross Church

The tower of the Holy Cross Church has been Gosheim’s landmark since the 16th century; the church is also the oldest surviving building in the municipality. It features stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the history of salvation, which once told Bible stories. This brings together the building’s significance to the townscape and a tradition of storytelling through images. For those interested in cultural history, both the tower as a landmark and the window designs offer points of interest in their own right.

Fitness Trail and Mount Lemberg

Built in 2021, the fitness trail connects Gosheim and Wehingen as a walking and cycling route of around three kilometres. The approximate distance and the two explicitly stated ways of using it provide a clear basis for choosing between a walk and a bike ride.

Mount Lemberg lies around two kilometres north of Gosheim’s town centre. At 1,015 metres above sea level, it is the highest mountain in the Swabian Alb. The Lemberg Tower is open at all times and can be climbed in suitable weather. On a clear day, the view from the tower extends to the Black Forest and the Neckar region, as well as across the plateau of the Swabian Alb to the Alps. For planning purposes, climbing the tower and enjoying the distant views depend on two different conditions: suitable weather is specified for the ascent, while clear visibility is needed for the expansive views.

Shoreline, Pools and Exercise

Benches line the short path along the shore of Hinterhalden Pond. On the north shore, there is a mown lawn for sunbathing. This gives you a specific place to take a break by the water or spend some time on the grass.

The Jurabad has a pleasantly warm swimming pool and a particularly warm children’s pool. Its facilities also include a sauna, an infrared cabin and a plunge pool. The two pools differ in temperature; the sauna, infrared cabin and plunge pool add further options.

Gosheim has three playgrounds for play and exercise. Another option is for children and young people who want to pursue biathlon as a competitive sport: the Gosheim Ski Club offers extensive training for this. To ask about current opportunities to take part, contact the club directly.

The wider setting: Tuttlingen District

As a broader regional setting, Tuttlingen District offers a wider perspective on the landscape. It covers 734.4 square kilometres and includes the southwestern foothills of the Swabian Alb, parts of the Baar and the valley of the young Danube. The northern part of the district has juniper heaths and the region known as the “10,000-metre peaks,” with ten mountains over 1,000 metres high. These landscape features describe Tuttlingen District and complement Gosheim’s local offerings with a regional perspective.
