With a water surface of more than six hectares, Ebnisee is the largest lake in the Swabian Forest. It was created in the 18th century for timber rafting in the Welzheimer Forest and is now used for swimming. Kaisersbach combines this lakeside focus with historic mills, protected ravines, and hiking and cycling tours.

At Ebnisee Lake: Swimming, Boats and Trails

In summer, pedal boats and rowing boats are available. Ebnisee is also used for swimming. Outside the bathing season, the landscape invites you to take a longer hike around the lake and through the surrounding forest. Before your visit, check whether boat rentals are currently available.

There are approximately 300 paid parking spaces around Ebnisee. Capacity and parking fees may change; check both before you set off. Accessible toilets are available at the kiosk by the car park and at the Waldschenke restaurant on Ebnisee. Check the facility information when you arrive.

A seasonal timetable described in 2019 listed the Limesbus SĂĽd (route 375), running from May until the second-to-last Sunday in October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The route ran from Murrhardt via Waldsee and Kirchenkirnberg to Kaisersbach and continued to Welzheim, with return journeys also available. Check the current timetable before travelling.

Mills and Protected Ravines

MenzlesmĂĽhle is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Kaisersbach, on the Mill Hiking Trail. The watermill dates back to the 14th century and has an overshot waterwheel, onto which water flows from above. Ebersberger MĂĽhle, in the valley of the Blinde Rot, also dates back to the 14th century. It has been powered by a turbine since the 1920s. The two mills showcase different forms of hydropower.

Hägelesklinge and Brunnenklinge lie between the Kaisersbach districts of Ebersberg and Täle. Both have been protected nature reserves since 1969. Together with the mills, they give the landscape a distinctive historic and natural character.

More Excursions and Events

Schwaben Park in Kaisersbach is a theme park for the whole family, with more than 60 attractions. This gives the town an excursion destination that is quite different from the experiences at the lake and the historic mills.

Every year, the Ebniseeverein and the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park jointly host “Ebnisee for Everyone” at three events. The program includes activities and workshops for people with and without disabilities. If this event is important to your plans, check the current dates in advance.

Kaisersbach also offers hiking trails through the Swabian Forest and cycling tours. A longer hike around Ebnisee is one specific option outside the bathing season.
